This review is meant for people who want to get into this manga and need a lead or are insecure about it because of rumors. Also this is a spoiler-free review that will help the new ones but offer depth to the ones who already read it since the writing implies stuff that can be interpreted. Kamisama Hajimemashita, oh man there are so many things to say about this. Do you ever feel that you need a change in your life? We all know by now that anime and manga are a really good way to escape reality and enjoy yourself (temporarily unfortunately). Why did Isay that? Well, Kamisama Hajimemashita takes that concept literally and presents us a girl who becomes homeless after her dad left home because of debt collectors and ends up in a temple where she can forget her problems temporarily and enjoy the fantasy of being free and independent. A rarity in modern days if you ask me. Compared to the typical fantasy setting, here we are presented with a set of responsibilities that Manami the main girl has to do in order to maintain her status and overall happiness in that holy temple. The first part presents the new world revolving around the temple and the people/gods which live around it or even in other dimensions. An important lesson that we all know but not usually apply is that sometimes you have to be vulnerable and take a risk helping someone for free not expecting anything in return besides their friendship and trust. Our main protagonist its applying this concept every time she can and this helps her develop as a character and getting to know the enviroment that the fantasy world of the temple offers in the same time. Not to mention that in life you do not succeed every time and this is taken into consideration even here. What I said above is what the first half is striving for and in my opinion it has done an exceptional job doing. The second half has the same adventures sometimes even befriending people so much to the point of "adopting" them as a familiar. Not going to go in the detail to what a familiar is just because when I read reviews myself I like to have explained the reasons why the plot is good not the plot itself. Also in the second part we catch some glimpses or romance and sexual tension between some characters and as we go closer to the end the manga becomes a full fledged romance and it is executed as amazing as the adventuring fantasy part assuming you read until then. Now to adress some negative opinions and prove them wrong in order to convince you that they are unfounded. Some say the manga becomes a reverse harem at some point and that is completely wrong because probably this guys can't see the difference between a close friendship and a romantically inducing one. Still here i would like to add that teasing isn't meant to be taken seriously. About the people who complain about furries and just label anyone watching this as a furry no questions asked. Most of the character designs are inspired from japanese mythology and adapted to catch the eye of the people in this era. Why is this anime liked mostly by girls? Is it worth watching if i am a guy? The response here is subjective but i would say yes. The thing is that the female lead's personality is fairly simple with some special qualities that are still human like kindness and sensibility which makes female readers relate easier to her. On the other hand the male lead is what girls would imagine to be the dream personality of a possible male partner so it is basically like this manga nailed most of the male traits to suit female readers. I personally find it to be adorable how girls think these days. Now as a note. I never review anything that is subjective such as paneling drawing quality or pacing. So you have to figure for yourself if this is for you or not. With all this being said I hope I managed to at least make you interested in checking this manga out and if not there is always something that will suit your taste so thanks for reading.
Nanami Momozono is a high school student who has a lot on her plate. Her father had evaded his enormous gambling debts by escaping town, which resulted in his daughter being evicted by the debt collectors. As Nanami muses about her future, she runs into a man hanging onto a tree to escape a dog. She rescues him and tells him about her current situation, prompting the man to offer her his home. He believes that Nanami is more suited than him to be the "Master" of the house, and thus she takes him up on his offer. Upon arrival, however, Nanami discovers that said house is actually a dilapidated shrine. She is about to double back when a fox familiar and two shrine spirits stop her, mistaking her for their former master Mikage, the land god of the shrine. Upon realization, Tomoe—the fox familiar—leaves the shrine, refusing to serve Nanami. After a series of events leaves Nanami in grave danger, she summons Tomoe and seals a contract with him to earn his subservience. Now a human land god, Nanami must face new daunting tasks, menacing adversaries, and her handsome and hot-headed familiar. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
Watching the anime of Kamisama Hajimemashita last year left me with lots of questions and excitement that led me here to read the manga. And so, I was really glad that I've finished reading it. Story: 10 Being able to see Nanami, Tomoe, and Mizuki's journey made me happy as if I was really in the manga. The arcs were breath taking that it didn't even left some holes. It even arrived with the ending smoothly. Art: 10 At first I was slightly not sure about the art, but not long after, it became better and better.Character: 9 Most of the characters may always look having perseverance and determination, but of course the variety of their motivation gave them spectacular characters. Enjoyment: 10 I am one of the girls who loves romance and this never failed me to have the romantic excitement. The author did such an amazing job in surprising me with romance. I just love seeing cool and handsome male leads. HHAHAHA. Overall: 10 This manga is my favorite romance. Thus, I am proud of the mangaka. Cheers and Kudos to her, both the manga and the anime were a success.
OKAY so! First off i'm definitely not the type to read mangas, I'm one of those people... I've watched anime ever since I was a kid and always refused to read the manga but recently I decided to rewatch the anime and read into the rest of the story. I rated everything a 10 which might not be a lot from me because I rate everything I watch a 10, but this definitely deserved it. Story: 10 I love rom-coms and the manga just topped off my dreams for the anime, reading the manga genuinely made me cry, I don't care about cliches, I feel like thisanime really touched on our emotions and feelings as the characters try to understand each other. Not much else to say except you should read it :D Art: 10 I like all sorts of anime art, but I mean personally I think the art was very good. Character: 10 I love how in this story, every "I'll see you again" actually happened. It showed how everyone overcame different obstacles and that no one is alone, I loved how everyone was connected because of Nanami and because she has such a good heart and soul. The first time I watched it I thought Nanami was an annoying airhead who always embarrasses herself, but I realized how admirable she actually is, she's positively impacted the lives of everyone she meets, even Akura-o who couldn't be stopped by any Gods. She's also 17 and has accomplished a lot, I loved each and every character and their role and path in the Anime. In the end no one was left out and I was able to be satisfied knowing everyone has a good future to live after the end of the manga. Enjoyment: 10 I enjoyed it so much I finished it in a whole day! It just lured me in, it made me cry, it made me gasp out loud, it made me squirm of joy and excitement as if I was actually watching something. Overall: 10 I can't stop talking about it, I'm so glad I rewatched it and decided to read the manga, the ending was so good that, although I'm sad, I couldn't have been more satisfied with the ending. This is the first manga I've ever actually read and finished, and I'd like to say, if you are actually reading this. Please give it a read. :) ps. I'm too lazy to look over for spelling/grammar errors so :3
This story touched my heart in so many ways! I've always loved the anime for years, but I only got to read the manga recently. The anime already stole my heart, but the manga just gave me so much more insight on the plot and the characters. The whole manga was so well rounded, there was not an arc I did not enjoy. The manga made me laugh and cry so much! I was able to understand each character so much more and fell in love with all of them as well. When they smiled, I smiled as well, and when they cried, I criedwith them. The story was so cleverly written. Everything made sense in the end, all the pieces fit the puzzle. I want to personally thank Julietta Suzuki for bringing this story to life! I will cherish it in my heart forever. *ps, the manga made me fall in love with Mizuki so hard I just want to hug him all day :( i hate when he's sad he doesnt deserve it!!!

Story : Its story is very interesting lots of twist that would make you want to finish this immediately! I cant even sleep without thinking what will happen next so I end up reading the next chapter. The story is jusy normal a human falls in love with a demon but there are lots of things happened that would make the story exciting! Their love story is very cute, sweet, young andheart-warming that every gurl would dream a love story like this! Characters: I love every character of it! Especially Mizuki! He is very emotional and affectionate everytime he is sad, it makes me cry! I love him he is so childish in a very cute and adorable way! Tomoe is cool and hot! Nanami is strong, but sometimes gets in my nerve because she never listen. Next that I love is Mikage! He looks handsome he reminds me of James of Pokemon! He is very respected and I understand why! I like him soo much! The rest are very good they all have a very unique role in the series! Overall: I enjoyed it a lot! I prefer reading manga than watching its anime! But i love Mizuki's voice(Japanese) sooo i watched it too! I really love this soooo much!
