Really really loved it..... Each character in the story were well fleshed out and there was a sort of human-ness(I dont think thats even a word) to them....Its just that to me, even the ones that seemed like bad hearted characters didnt seem so bad at the end and all our main characters were too damn lovable. There were small arcs for each character which made me clise to these characters. I felt like I was watching over their growth. I came here for some romance which wasnt much but I'm still fine with how their relation panned out. Every person in the world is talented in one wayor the other, you just have to keep going at it. This was for sure a bumpy ride but im happy with how it ended...
In middle school, Ichinose Kimitaka taught his friends how to play basketball. Despite his experience with the sport, his friends quickly outmatched him in skill. After an incident brought on by his frustration and jealousy, he was crushed to overhear those same 'friends' discussing how they wished he'd just kill himself. On his way to toss out his special basketball shoes, he met a girl who was just as frustrated, throwing her own dancing shoes away. She was so tall, and her hands and feet are so large, that she had been rejected from her chosen hobby of Spanish dancing. He urged her to give basketball a try, and the two exchanged their shoes instead of throwing them away. As he enters high school, Kimitaka learns that meeting him changed that girl's life for the better, and she is now a happy, social basketball player. Will Kimitaka be able to find the courage to make new friends and pursue his own talents? (Source: MangaHelpers)
Tetsugaku Letra is like that piece of cake that you want just one more bite. The story reels you in, every single chapter. It’s so painfully realistic, without the frills and bells of school life manga, while being so wonderful warm in its simple storytelling. To be honest, I fell in love quickly with the characters. Fujimoto, Ichinose, Kikuchi, Ishikawa... loveable dorks who try their best in ever way. Echoing the fact that it’s very realistic: all our protagonists have something they feel bad about, something that makes them feel like trash. This manga doesn’t offer a solution. There’s no character arc or anything, like wherea character overcomes his shortcomings and learns from it. Their struggles may resonate with you — it’s simply a manga about a group of boys slowly working towards their goals, nothing more. A short story of some average boys in everyday life. You’ll notice this isn’t tagged “romance”. That’s because it isn’t. I did expect some, but came out disappointed. That’s because the “love interests” have mutual respect but not to the point of romantic love. I think their relationship could develop more with the help of more chapters, but this manga is a story that stands without romance. The art style with all the inky lines have an old 90’s anime style to them which was lovely. Character designs are also good! Overall it’s very clean and pretty. This manga is good, but I wasn’t fully satisfied. It’s like taking a walk through a charming little garden, or having the grandest dream but then waking up. It’s a little snapshot of daily life, and even though the details are hazy in my mind, it’s gives such a warm and comfy feeling. Read this, get up and stop feeling sorry for yourself. Let’s all work earnestly towards our goals like these boys.
Just finished binging it and it's 3 am as of the time I'm writing this do I'll keep this concise. Story:7/10 Slice of life so there's not much going but the events that are presented and occur throughout the manga are quite good in terms of quality. One thing that annoyed me the most was the way the romance was handled, it dragged out superbly long and the payoff was disappointing. Art: 10/10 The character design in this manga is something I love, it's simple yet detailed. Character: 7/10 The main cast somewhat memorable, I won't be forgetting the main characters soon and they're not copies of popular tropes. Myonly gripe is that Fujimoto's side of the story isn't as fleshed out as I'd like, we get nothing much outside basketball. Enjoyment:8/10 I binged the whole thing and didn't get bored even once so yeah. Minus points for the frustration the romance gave me but maybe that was what keep me reading so intently but it was not enjoyable to experience Overall:8/10 Would be a 10/10 if the romance was handled better and Fujimoto was more fleshed out, it would certainly benefit from more chapters.
I'm writing this short yet simple review because this series was so WELL WRITTEN in my opinion. (its not really a review rather its me showing my my love for this series) This series was so wonderful with simple storytelling with realistic problems that they have to face and overcome, each character is so LIKEABLE and well written in my opinion. This series shows how a person can change both good way and in a bad way, one inspires while the other breaks them, one abandons and ones moves forward to strive change, it was just so satisfying to see each characters "growth" as a person. Thismanga portrays on how a person can reflect and seek growth (I think). "Seeing you cling so dearly onto a dream I had cast aside made me remember happiness. It started on a whim, but the times I experienced with those shoes brought me both joy and sadness. Remembering those days, I longed for more and from seeing you, a person who reveled in the joys of life, I was sated. To you, who faces life, come rain or shine I cannot bear to be ashamed with my strength, I live out the day with joy as to meet you with pride beaming with a smile." Such an astonishing piece of work that I have read so far, it was a eye-opener for me because of how it resonated with me.
A great manga, a nice and fun read. Despite a hasty ending. The characters are nice and charismatic. All end up having a good development and deepening about them, making the connection with the reader more powerful. That said, the end of a special arc that left something to be desired had a strange conclusion. The MC, Ichinose, is a character who goes through a great journey throughout the work. He is a person who has made mistakes and has sunk into depression because of it. However, after the event that made him want to change, he gradually grows into a more open person about his passions andeven the fear of his failures. Something very beautiful indeed! The story is very good, talking about mistakes and growth, having an engaging narrative for the quality of the characters and their interactions. However, there are some stumbling blocks such as a strange arc ending (Ichikawa) and an abrupt conclusion, as if the story had been forcibly interrupted, although it was still a good ending. Art is functional. I don't think it's pretty, but the emotion that each scene carries is very good. Finally, Tetsugaku Letra was a great read. Having good characters and a well-written story, but sinning at the end.
