The art is surprisingly lazy. More than half of the backgrounds are just screentone or plain white. (not even joking, it's almost funny how lazy the backgrounds are) Story: If you have no idea what Accel World is already, do not read the manga. Try the novels, or anime. Both of which is available to buy in English. Accel World is a similar to SAO, playing out in 2046. While SAO began in 2022, or somewhere near there. Same author, along with mentions of SAO in Accel. It's quite interesting. The manga is not very good compared to the novels. And considering the low amount ofvolumes, this manga adaption was never a serious attempt for greatness. The story lacks the depth you get from details. But even then, there's a lot of info-dumps, and the huge amount of "inner monologues" are ridiculous. It's a huge sci-fi story, and it's just not well suited for manga. You try explaining advanced physics in pictures. Probably not very easy. Characters: A silly immature junior, a mature "cool beauty" senior, along with a best friend Professor. The characters are all well done, but the manga does a bad job of actually showing it. The biggest problem here is all the goddamn drama. Everyone is screaming and crying, crying and screaming. Then again, the oldest character in the story is like 14years old... But it really is annoying that even the "best-friend trio" can't actually be friendly with each other. Overall, The SAO manga, along with the Accel manga are both badly made. It's a real disappointment considering the original stories are at least interesting. But it's Science Fiction, and that would be too wordy for a manga, so Accel World's manga is simply bad. Recommended for hardcore fans only. + It's Accel World. Loved the Novels - Art is bad - Bad crossover with SAO PS: This manga was bad. But the novels are actually really good, if you liked the anime, do try the novels. And try to forget about this manga if you ended up reading it...
No matter how much the times change, bullied kids aren't going anywhere. And fat junior high school student Haruyuki is one of them. But one day, Haruyuki encounters Kuroyukihime, the most beautiful and elegant girl at school, who gives him a mysterious program: "Brain Burst"...and the secret of the "Accelerated World." He may be at the bottom of the food chain at school, but Haruyuki and his destiny begin to "accelerate" with incredible speed in the virtual realm as he aims for the top!! The manga adaptation of Reki Kawahara's wildly popular Accel World light novel series follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, bringing you a futuristic coming-of-age tale about the potential that lies within all of us!
