I'm surprised My Dearest Nemesis has almost no members on this site, or that Xian Jun's other work (GTB) isn't even in published yet. This manhua is excellent! I've read a lot of yuri so far, and this work manages to do away with many of the more played out tropes in the genre. The characters are not children, there's no big gay panic or "but we're both girls!" They're two mature, adult women who fall in love and that's that! Even for a workplace yuri, the regular foibles of optics or public perception as the antagonist just aren't present here. The work is drivenby the characters' unique and conflicting personalities as they learn how to communicate their long held and long overlooked feelings for each other. I especially appreciate what I interpret to be autism representation, with Director Jiang having absolutely no clue how empathy or social dynamics work. Her love is blunt, black and white, simple as if obvious, and I relate to that a lot. Director Shen is also a delight: passionate and hard working, resolved to overcome her past, pleasantly mature about her present. I did enjoy the ending, though I've heard some found it abrupt. I think the emotional conclusion was succinct and drove home the story's main message of emotional growth and maturity in a subtle way. Give this manhua a shot! It's totally underrepresented ToT
The whole company knew that they were polar opposites who fought like cats and dogs. Yet during the year-end party, the wall between them shattered after they got drunk! And so, the two of them went from always being close to going off on each other to feeling very strange things following the accidental mishap... (Source: Kuaikan World, translated)
