I'd say Dice is an above average manhwa, however, it is not an insanely good one that you will think of as a masterpiece or a manhwa that will leave a long-lasting impression. Slightly above average is not quite right since it has pretty good art and the first half of the manhwa was actually good. The story of dice in a nutshell is that of a bullied kid with no outstanding features but his courage which he shows until he gets "dice". In this world teens who get special dices can use them on anything they wish, like super human abilities, being more intelligentin a certain subject or improving how they look. A being called "x" distributes the dice among the teens in exchange of completing the quests he gives them. Early in the story X forces the teens to fight and do nasty things in order to get dice. The main character fights and improves his stats to fight X. Art (7.7): The style isn't outstanding or different but it is well drawn and detailed. After the 100th chapter it gets good and there are some panels now and then where you will find yourself staring at it for longer than usual. (Good enough for a wallpaper) Characters (6):The main character doesn't have a great backstory but his character development in the first half is good. Some secondary characters have a better backstory but they get little development. They are part of the story but behave pretty much in the same way they would as in the first ten chapters. The only exception here is Mio. Taebin also has a bit of character development but his screen time is cut then. I didn't find the cast of characters boring but they just lacked actual development and I could also find myself accurately guessing what they'd do. Story (6.5): In the first half it was entertaining with excitement and getting hooked on what will happen next. The second half didn't present any new characters or development of the same quality as the first half. It wasn't quite boring but more than a few times I thought that I was reading a long chapter. Entertainment(6.6): The first half was pretty good, it got me thinking about what I read for a few min after reading. The second half, I just lost my interest eventually in the story. Overall: 6.67 You should give this manhwa a try if you have spare time. If not, I'd suggest reading the first 15-20 chapters, you will have a good idea of the setting and how it will be for the first half, then decide on whether to drop it or not. You might like it way more than what I did, or might want to just drop it and move on to something else from your plan to read list.
Whether it's appearance, grades, or social life, Dongtae's at the bottom of the barrel. When popular transfer student Taebin gives him an opportunity to change all of that, Dongtae heads down a path to make things right. This is the world of DICE, where a single roll can change your fate. (Source: Webtoon Entertainment)
What Is Good About DICE (다이스) : Storyline : There is no doubt when I say this, but I think this has to be the best storyline that I have read… just when you think you know what will happen, the opposite happens! It’s very unpredictable… it leaves you on the edge of your seat with what will happen and honestly, I love it. Art Style : The uniqueness of the art style in this webtoon makes me want to continue reading more and more – it’s just so nice to look at and it feels very balanced between the fights and the scenery. No corners were cut whendrawing this webtoon and from what I could tell from the webtoon chapter comments… everyone is in love with it! Characters : We have a nice range of characters and their backstories are very fitting, I cannot go into much detail about this as this will ruin it for you… but I can tell you about Dongtae and his traits. Imagine a very short, average looking and simple schoolboy… who has drawn the short straw and rolled the lowest number on the dice… a very misfortunate child who is destined to fail from the get-go. He is very shy, timid and quite the pushover at first… but then the dice changes his life around. Dongtae is one of my favourite characters for a variety of reasons – but I don’t want to spoil anything, so I urge you to give DICE a read as soon as possible! Chapter Length : Not only has this webtoon got a god-tier storyline and art style… but it also has the perfect chapter-length! The chapters feel like they end at just the right points into the story and while they do leave you at a bit of a cliffhanger… this is excellent as typically what happens in the chapters makes you say “Okay, I need to find out what happens next after this chapter”. OSTs : I tend to read webtoons on my iPad and I typically have my volume muted, however, by the off chance I had it on a very low volume after watching some YouTube videos and I thought I was going crazy when I started to hear random music! This webtoon has soundtracks embedded into certain chapters and my god, they make you feel even more immersed into the webtoon than you think! What Is Bad About DICE (다이스) : None: Honestly, I don’t really think there is anything that I dislike about this webtoon… everything just seems so perfect. If you don’t believe me then go and check it out! I feel you won’t be disappointed. Overall Conclusion : My overall conclusion for DICE? Go read it. Like now. It’s an awesome webtoon and it will leave you wanting more and more! There are a tonne of chapters currently as well and it’s still ongoing so there are plenty more to come! .
