Fucking Discontinued… 😭 But Wind Breaker is without a doubt my favorite sports manga/manhwa. Easy 10/10. I’m not gonna go super deep into the plot so people can experience it for themselves, but just know the story is fantastic. It has every emotion. There are heartbreaking moments, goofy and fun ones, and some seriously top-tier character development. Jay Jo is an amazing main character. He starts off quiet and keeps to himself, but he’s insanely talented and adapts to everything that comes his way. His relationship with his uncle was honestly one of my favorite parts, it’s so nice compared to his family situation, and youcan really tell how much he loved his uncle. Vinny’s still my favorite though. He’s got an amazing backstory and so much fight, and he doesn’t mess around. Wind Breaker also nails the side characters and antagonists. Whether I love them or hate them (sometimes both), they’re all so well-written. Kaneshiro Takeda, Owen Knight, Noah Austin, Hyuk “Grim Reaper” Kwon, Sangho Choi, there are so many I could name. The art also gets insanely good as the seasons go on. And as someone who's super into cycling, the way they capture speed, motion, and intensity is just awesome. I’ve got so much passion for this series, it’s more than just a sports story, it’s something that really sticks with you.
Burdened with expectations since childhood, second-year high schooler Jo "Jay" Ja-Hyun feels obligated to aim for the top through his studies. Despite obtaining the title of student president at Taeyang High, he continues to study diligently, giving him little time to befriend others. However, possessing an exceptional talent for biking with a technique that astonishes other experienced bikers, there is more to him than meets the eye. One afternoon, while Jay is skidding his bike at high speed, he catches the interest of his classmate, Yoon Minu. Amazed by his unparalleled biking skill, Minu is quick to recruit him to his biking crew, but Jay coldly rejects the offer. With a determination to show Jay the fun of riding with others, Minu proposes a simple deal—to race against a member of his team, promising to leave him alone if he wins. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
