This manga is an adaptation from a Lovecraft Novel just with this you know it will be good. But with the art and the special type of the manga it is even better The Art is really good and manages to reveal just enough to keep you entertained without revealing too much and keeping a part of mystery. The story and characters are very good (since it is Lovecraft it is to be expected). The story is really in the style of Lovecraft and fans of him will definitly enjoy this manga. For those that don't know lovecraft the manga is still very good and a definitive readif you like horror mangas in the style of Uzumaki with strange events happening without explanation.
An unnamed surveyor from Boston, telling the story in the first-person perspective, attempts to uncover the secrets behind a shunned place referred to by the locals of Arkham as the "blasted heath." (Source: Wikipedia)
Your experience with this adaptation of H.P Lovecraft's color out of space will mostly come down to how much you like the source material, whether you have read it or not. As an adaptation, this is a solid piece of work. Giving life to the original material with art and characters. Backgrounds especially can be vivid and alien. And the way they portray the color is done well. With the use of unknown silhouettes and a mix of shadings, it truly feels like the artist managed to grasp the essence of the color. But that is also where it all ends. It´s a solid horror adaptation. Butit doesn´t stand out in any way either. And that´s also how I view the original material.
The story man, it keeps pulling me, the mysteries keeps pulling me to read more, I'm kinda liking this kinds of mangas, this is the first time I actually enjoyed a horror manga without the gory stuffs (I only read quite few mangas the time I'm writing this review, around 144 completed manga titles to be exact and most them are either ecchi, erotica or hentai so that's why I'm fairly new to the horror manga genre). it's mysterious, it's weird, it's horrifying and it's awesome. The artstyle, while the landscape and sceneries are well drawn the artstyle is just a little bit above average tome, a 6 because of the way the human characters are drawn, so basically the human characters drawing style cancels out the goodness of the sceneries/background, maybe I might being biased here because I'm not really used to non modern anime-styled human characters.
