Swallowed Star 3rd Season

A good script destroyed by bad screenplay and direction to improve the drama and visuals. This show has more unnecessary drama than science fiction or fantasy or cultivation. Second half of the season was the only saving grace. The show takes place in a fantasy future of earth where humans are powered and animals are monsters and advanced mecha tools are used to protect human civilization. Animation - 8/10 This is what the hype of the show is about. Fights and overall visuals are great.Screenplay - 5/10 This is the weakest part. The show keeps suffering from plot holes, plot nerfs, plot armor as needed to drag the fight or end the fight. The basic concept which starts the sci-fi fantasy show is flawed and inconsistent in the show. The power leveling is inconsistent. The rules, politics literally change on whim of director to drag some arcs or end some quicker. Monsters are inconsistent. The people become dumb or smart as per plot convenience. They keep dumbing the script or create plot holes or break their own world logic or sequence of events as long as it creates more drama. The dramatization level is so high that they managed to make an AGI look dumb. They recycle even the mega monsters and nerf buff them as needed. Characters - 5/10 The 1 extra mark is only for Hong. Only sensible, wise and consistent character in the show. Rest of the characters are single dimensional tropes and inconsistent including the MC. There is no character growth in any characters. The MC is nerfed as needed and becomes brain dead as per plot demand to increase runtime. Direction - 3/10 This show has a source web-novel and manhua. Any major disappointment can be compared to them and you will find the director botched it up for fake cinematic tension and visual experience. To increase the drama and prolong the show, the amount of fillers and fake stupidity/nerfs/circumstance changes added is unbelievable. Every fight becomes a boss fight. I doubt the MC can even beat a child in arm wrestling without intense dramatic music and slow mo reactions. Cultivation doesn't work like that. A higher tier material or weapon can defeat a lower tier one. Second half of S3 makes MC slightly better. Normal rating : 5 First half of season 3 : -2 Second half of season 3 : +3 Overall rating : 6 S3 second half was comparatively better compared to the 2.5 seasons before it. Apparently S4 onwards it gets better. Watching onwards hoping it gets better.
