Is love meant to be romantic? Is it for the sole purpose of keeping each other feeling more complete? This story follows the two main characters: the apathetic pretty boy Souji, and the free-spirited Mika. A feeling that is left from reading this story is best portrayed as bittersweet. The complexity shared in their feelings for each other highlights the many stages and types of both love and relationships. I really enjoyed this read because is it was refreshing for a manga of it's genre. We typically get the romantic-type of setting in which both parties adore each other and work towards the goal of beinga well-functioning couple. This is a different version of that. This series was well-illustrated with flowy lines and anatomy that reminded me of Kojima Lalako's works. Thin young adults who are discovering both themselves and themselves in the eyes of others. The softness of the author's style really gives the slice of life feel. Despite Souji not having much facial expression, the way the author illustrates his other features say so much more and that impressed me greatly. If you're wanting a different type of BL from all your readings I do recommend this. It makes you question love and how much of a necessity the things done in a "regular" relationship are. My only complaint is that it was short. Though that also adds to its charm. I would have loved to see this as a full fledged series. There are so many elements and stories that we could get into (like some family backgrounds and why the characters act the way they do... cause really, they're not all too normal haha) Nonetheless, it was bittersweet in both the plot, and length. (tbh i kind of cried near the end. sigh. too good.)
Lone wolf Souji met cheerful and sociable Mika on the school rooftop when they were 16. At first glance, the two seem like polar opposites, but they soon discover that they are in fact birds of a feather, both coming from an unhappy family, carrying all kinds of burdens deep in their hearts. They feel drawn to each other like moths to a flame, trying to compensate what they have lacked in life through a person they can finally feel at ease with. From teens to adults, their relationship and feelings slowly grow into something else... (Source: Media Do International/Printemps Publishing)
Really bland feel to the manga and ''spaced out'' vibe. Not in a bad way though, it seems to have been the point. Don't expect a ''cutesy romance BL'' thing, its more of a short but vague-ish story that was more realistic than the usual fluff and tropes and clichΓ©s of most BL. Lots of open ends, not much I really enjoyed the vague, bland, boringness of the domestic life of two long-date friends (kinds friends). No overbearing fluff, not melodramatic scene of a random other guy being a romantic rival. Not much at all, but that was the point, again. A down side would be thatthe blondie overreaction a bit more than I would have excpected his character to, bu tit wasnt a too much of a melodrama either. And it would have work way better if it was two mangas instead of just one, because of the slow-paced nature of the story. Just wouldv'have been more effective. As for the art is a bit inconsistent with the faces but overall well made and in a drafty style. Overall Score: 9, though closer to 8 than 10. (I'd have to re-read to make a better review with bullet points though, might do it eventually, might not. But its from memory from three weeks ago, so apologies for the shortness and the plainess of this review)
This manga was extremely short and an easy read for something to distract myself. The story was fairly basic and the plot was predictable, but enjoyable. The main problem that this manga had was the brevity of it. It was so short that not a lot of the characters were able to be fleshed out and made real. The mangaka had a great character and story base but did little with it. If we were only given a few more glimpses into either of the main characters' backgrounds or the ending was expanded further it would have been a great manga rather than just anOK one. I feel that if the mangaka revisits this series later and ads a follow up or something else it would improve the story quality greatly. All in all, I feel like this story is a great beginning, but lacks the depth needed to be a complete and finished stand alone work.
