Bloody Monday tried to be a suspense-thriller anime which involves a lot of "black hat hacking". Although they try very hard to use accurate terms, anything involving computer crimes tends to be misunderstood by traditional storytellers, and that is still the case here. Lots of things are almost accurate, and for that reason, I got sort of annoyed with the series. Another annoying thing was that the "experts" often make the same novice mistakes, over and over again. This might be accurate if they were run of the mill government workers, but, they're supposed to be elite, highly trained specialists. On the other hand, theyare lots of twists in the plot, and it kept me wanting to know what would happen next. This story would do well as a anime, especially if it was stretched out more to fill in the minor characters (and even major characters) more, e.g. like how True Blood was adapted from book to tv show form, and minor characters were "fleshed out" more, in the same way, the limits of the manga format mean that a lot of characters don't get much attention here. It might sound like I hate the series, but, comparing it to others, like, say, Liar Game, Death Note, and Hunter X Hunter, I have to say that it feels a bit rushed and lopsided. So overall, I give it 7/10... but, due to the suspense aspects, whilst reading it, esp. if you read it one volume or a few chapters at a time, the story is told well enough to keep you interested, which is why I rate it 9/10 for enjoyment. The Art, I don't know what to say... it seems good, but it's manga, and for black and white drawings, they're all mostly the same to me, I don't pay attention much to the art quality. The Story, because of the suspense and trying to be accurate, I'd rate it 8/10... but after reading Owning the Box and such, I really think you can't half-do accuracy like how everyone else does, but I realize that only the geekiest of geeks will care or even see the problems. And so, overall, I'd recommend it, but, as a parallel to a "thriller" movie. If you like plot twists, suspense, and exaggerated heroes, then you'll like this.... but it isn't the great work that it could have been, if more care towards realism had been taken.
Somewhere in Vladivostok, Russia, a deal has been successfully completed. Danger looms over the horizon; a deadly virus—capable of killing within three hours of infection—has now fallen into the hands of a mysterious woman named Maya. Enter Fujimaru Takagi, a seemingly ordinary student at Mishiro Academy in Japan. However, very few know that he was famed for exposing crimes and corruption of high-profile individuals with his brilliant hacking powers—the infamous "Falcon" who had abruptly vanished from the cyberworld. Only members of Third-I, a top-secret division of the Public Security Intelligence Agency led by Fujimaru's father, Ryunosuke, and his friend Otoya Kujou know of his past. When a KGB agent is murdered in Japan, the only clue to his death is a memory chip found at the scene of the crime. Fujimaru is recruited by Third-I to decode the chip, which contains a video file of an event called the "Christmas Massacre." Investigating the incident further, Fujimaru's father uncovers more information about the homicide and a mysterious code, "Bloody Monday," before being framed for the murder of his superior. Now, it is up to the hacker Fujimaru to utilize his expertise to help Third-I prevent the spread of terror and destruction in Japan, while attempting to clear his father's name. Bloody Monday is a shounen mistery crap manga. And maybe a rip-off of 20th Century Boys. So, there's this chick who works for a secret terrorist organization and she spread a deadly virus in Russia that apparently drains the blood out of a person. Hence the name Bloody Sunday (or maybe the author just likes U2, who knows.) The main character, Fujimaru Takagi is a high-schooler with a great secret (of course). He is the person behind the internet alias 'Falcon', the greatest hacker in the world! And he actually hacked into a porn website when he was 12, so he's like, totally awesome... Anyway, his fatherworks in a secret government division that prevents ''terrorism and national uprisings''. And since Takagi is such an awesome guy (in real life we call them geeks), the government wants him to help with the investigation of a murdered agent. But one day Takagi's father is framed for murder and he has to go into hiding despite the fact that he works for the government that could free him anytime. And one day, after Takagi hacked into his teacher's computer and downloaded porn and got him fired, that chick who spread the virus comes to his school disguised as a teacher, to monitor him. (even though they could've just killed him, I mean, he's just a kid and all... ) Than we se lots of fanservice and romantic-shounen-comedy-stuff, and a picture of a cute little girl puking blood (that one was nice, I'll give it that)... Story: I don't know, 4? Art: Nothing special, unoriginal and bland. Barely 6 Character: Pffft, hahaha... 2 Enjoyment: 10. Overall: 4. I heavily recommend that you DO read Bloody Monday to see that picture of a cute little girl with a teddy bear puking blood..
Well ,its been 5 years since I finished the epic showdown of mind games between l and kira. And I am really bored with those lame tricks that new “deathnote wannabe” mangas are trying to pull off…..speaking truthfully while geas was great but to me it fell short while comparing to deathnote according to those beautifull mind chess between two intellectuals .Keeping aside the adventurous types like one piece and naruto , my expectation from short spanned thriller animes or mangas are actually how much intellectual property is included in the show without being lame on the context and concept . so far it has donereally goodjob providing mind games between 2 intellectuals . long story short , fujimaru aka falcon a teenager uses his hacking skill and sharp intellect to prevent a conspiracy and deadly virus outbreak project called “ bloody Monday “ from an organization or you could say “j” , a mastermind prodigy being a great mentalist . after several chapters the story becomes a roller coster ride of out witting each other ( so far the mangaka tried his best to provide logical explanations behind all plots , meaning less plot holes ) with the appearance of “J”. both sides have their issues based on moral perspectives, ideals of their own all with the dark tone of death lurking behind every corner and trap.also the appearence of Kamishima Simon , the proverbial messiah , and Jack Daemon the sharp-shooter will be able to excite the readers. The fun part is the exclusion of any kind of supernatural elements , you could say its more realistic type of world they play in, and one of main aspects of the manga is the use of hacking on the plot which may seem a little too much of a skill some times. its enjoyment value is close to whats in deathnote , but still deathnote would defiantly be my 1st choice of this type of genre which simply great and leagues ahead from others. and i would really really love to see an anime adaptation from a good studio like madhouse's take on it . the already finished j-drama is not enough to convey the scale and scope of all 3 seasons of this good thriller. Enuf said, give it a try over deathnote ost if you are bored and in a mood of “ watch the world burn “ …..
Very typical shounen stories that are produced and being published daily in the manga world centralizes on a fantasy protagonist with an innate superpower. Luffy has the power of the Gomu Gomu Fruit, Naruto has Ninja skills and the power of Kurama the nine tailed beast, Ichigo is a shinigami that transcends life and death, Katekyo Hitman Reborn has a dying will bullet to transform him into a mafia boss, Son Goku turned super saiyan in order to achieve stronger power, and so on so forth. Very few mangas have we seen that centralizes on a real power that could exist in our world today;the ability to hack. What makes this manga so rich in content and quality, is that it is very possible that a person in our world today has the same skills as Takagi in Bloody Monday. Russian nuclear bombs twisted with a friend's betrayal - The Falcon faces the biggest challenge yet.
In the world of Manga comes a time when you have seen everything that can be seen the masterpieces that is. so you desperately begin plan B. Plan B is basically the continuous search off an exact amount of enjoyment coming from two identical works , but there is nothing like that in Manga'sworld. Ladies and gentlemen we all know why we are here and if you don't no problem keep reading . There is 90% chance you are a Death note , liar Game or any psychological Manga fan , and maybe you are looking for psychological battles story twist etc..... If so then you have come to the right place but be aware that every work you read has a totally different vibe from one another . The story is basically dealing with terrorism idea combining it with a shounen settings and little bit off death note element and boom we get Bloody freaking Monday ! so it's a (7) for the story . Art is very good , you can tell who is who in fact i like it ! so it's a (8) . Characters : 7 It's your typical Shounen characters no big deal and until after a new Shounen characters ideas come to us from Mars and shock us we will always be like (-_-) if you know what I mean . Enjoyment 8 Yes yes it's the kind of mind wars you are imaging right now , A : "take this you (**** )" . B: "Oh no how did he do this !" . B :" Hahaha it's time for my secret weapon" and finally after a long struggle justice prevails or something like that . Overall : 8 It was a good read but nothing like a masterpiece so if you are after arc twists , cliffhangers, mind games ,psychological warfare , police shit welcome to ( Bloody Monday ) ! .
