Solid, mostly light-hearted seinen romance about the growing relationship between a ditzy girl and a serious boy. Story (7): Mostly a slice-of-life, so not a ton of story, this is mostly about two kids in love trying to navigate their romance through normal sorts of situations: he wants to have sex, they both get jealous, they want to spend more time together, they worry about post-graduation plans, etc. Still, these things are handled without a ton of unnecessary melodrama. Art (8): Very solid seinen art-work. Clear drawings, good character designs, etc. Kana is cute without looking like every other cute girl inevery other manga, and while having a fairly realistic body. All-in-all, the artwork struck me as above average. Character (7): Both leads are interesting people; you can see why they love each other, but also why they are someone insecure. Both can be a bit annoying at times, (Kana because of her extreme ditziness; Takugi because of his overbearing personality) but they both do grow and improve over the course of the manga. Otherwise, the characters are somewhat forgettable. Enjoyment (7): As I said, the leads can get a bit annoying at times, but in general this is a nice, pleasant slice-of-life story. Overall (7): If you like seinen romances with minimal melodrama, Hajimete Datteba is definitely worth checking out. It's not mind-blowingly awesome, but it's a fun read.
There is first time at everything, and you don't know anything about it. Not about your partner, not about yourself and even how to advance in love. In a certain port city, energetic high schooler Kana, and firm high schooler Takagi lives. Two of them experiencing first time at every thing they do. Author of "Smash!", Saki Kaori presents, Hajimete Datte ba!. A heartful love story has now began. (Source: jCafe24)
