a review with minimal spoilers I do not remember getting too emotional over 2D characters before so here I am writing a review after giving it a thought. Story: Even though this comic feels like reading a heartwarming series, it always shows traces of uneasiness and wistfulness that adds a heavy feeling while reading it and that is what made the story gripping and expressive even though the story was not that original. It felt more and more depressing to read when an happy or heartwarming moment happens and it kept me reading because of the tension. the reason why the story is not original is there arefew more films/anime/manga/manhwa where a normal person teaches a friendly alien-creature how to adapt to earth so the story has some similarities of other stories in the first few episodes. Art: The soft pastel-like color palette of this comic enhances the experience of the story by creating beautiful mystique atmospheres, sense of vague fear by using darker tones and by focusing on expressions of characters and heartwarming moments by using warmer, lighter tones. The characters and background are perfectly drawn, they don't have drawn parts that feel off while reading. Background is sometimes not detailed but it is just enough to keep it expressive and entertaining. //Extra view// I usually don't support the idea of perfectly drawn, handsome/beautiful characters that are living the 'perfect life' because just like posts of people in instagram or any other social media, the medias makes the viewer question his/her looks and lifestyle in a negative way because the media and comics both shows the 'perfect life' in a filtered way that almost no one will ever get to experience in their lives. It creates false sense of reality. I won't decrease points since this is just my extra view. Characters: I would not say characters were original and inspiring but their actions and thought processes did not felt illogical and they always had consistent progression of relationships. Though the relationship of Jin and Yuri felt weak since it was a side-story gave the impression of that part was made for showing the side characters' personalities to the readers so it felt tad bit synthetic. Myst is a common friendly humanoid-creature character you can see at other few manga/manhwas, making that character not so original. //but hey, creating an 'original character' is almost impossible so it is only normal. I really liked that usually the characters were not one dimensional that there were moments of realization and thought process. Most of the slapstick moments of characters were well done and they did not repeat until they started to get annoying. The comic had good comedy balance, jokes did not interrupt the progression of the comic. Overall: 8.5 Like I said, I have never lost to emotions while reading/watching any kind of series/films before and I could not spot 'mistakes' that much. It was entertaining and mysterious from start to finish and this comic expressed the feeling of losing and love with beautiful surreal art. It is a better version of your usual teen drama.
Garam has always loved to draw, but his dreams of being an artist have been on hold ever since his mother passed away. Wanting to become more independent and focus on his art, he moves into his grandmother's empty house by the ocean. There, he meets his greatest muse: a mystical water creature with no memories of her past. Now it's up to Garam to help her uncover what she has forgotten. (Source: Webtoon Entertainment)
Mystical is probably the most beautiful manhwa I’ve ever read. Every panel feels like a work of art, it’s simply stunning. The color palette, the character designs, and especially the panels that visualize the characters’ emotions are absolutely breathtaking. Everything is beautiful without being cheesy. The characters are a bit too perfect, personality-wise. Normally, that would bother me in other works, but here it didn’t. Quite the opposite, in fact. I think that’s the core appeal and unique strength of this manhwa: it feels like a dream world. The whole work, from the story to the characters, is a painting. Everything is dreamy, sparkly, deeply emotional, andsimply beautiful. Even the sad moments are beautifully sad. It’s not about drama or tragedy, it’s about hope and the beauty of life. Sad moments are part of everyone’s life, and Mystical treats them as such—something to be accepted, even cherished. They are an essential part of being human: to feel, and that includes sadness. Mystical tells the story of a deeply emotional bond between a human and a mystical creature. That’s the focus of the story, and while there are some side plots, it never strays far from the main couple, which I loved. That’s what I came for, and that’s exactly what I got. Important questions that naturally come up with this kind of premise are addressed, but always in a way that either supports the main plot or at least doesn’t interfere with its tone and focus. There were times I was genuinely afraid to keep reading, simply because I was so emotionally invested and didn’t want to see their relationship suffer. I was incredibly relieved that there were no cliché fights or unnecessary drama between them like you often see in other romance stories. The plot becomes slightly uneven toward the end. Personally, I didn’t find the ending—especially the last few panels—entirely fitting. But honestly, that’s such a minor criticism. This manhwa is a wonderful, emotional, visually stunning experience. I’ll definitely read it again or revisit the dozens of screenshots I took along the way, because everything is just so beautiful.
“Mystical” weaves a delicate tapestry of emotions, drawing readers into its spellbinding narrative. It masterfully balances heartwarming moments. The characters, especially the male lead, exhibit depth and maturity, making their journey relatable and endearing. As you read, prepare for a roller coaster ride of curiosity and tension, where even the sweetest moments carry a weight that lingers. The romance blooms beautifully, leaving an indelible mark on your heart. The art style, complements the emotional depth of the tale. And yes, it’s perfectly okay to shed a tear or two—after all, these 2D characters have a way of tugging at our heartstrings. The best manhwa...it feels like it'sperfection In summary, “Mystical” is a delightful blend of romance, mystery, and supernatural elements. It’s a canvas where emotions come alive, leaving you both enchanted and contemplative. Whether you’re a seasoned reader or a newcomer, this manhwa promises an unforgettable journey. 🌙✨
6/10 FOR THE PLOT, the author kept a very good balance in playing emotions, i'd say. 2/10 FOR THE CHARACTERS, ml has a good sense of humor and thinks in a realistic way. That's what I liked about his character. He became mature as the time gone by. As for the FL, her character is adorable, funny, and mature. Lemme tell u, there'd be fireworks coming from her head whenever she's happy which I (everyone) found soooo cute and funny in some way. Lol haha 💟 2/10 FOR THE ART, ufff!! The story was already great. However, the art made me stayed more hooked. Just forfun, FL's name is Myst. She's the perfect creature a human could imagine of in a mystical way. 💙🫀
