Winter Woods. The series is a romantic take on Frankenstein's Monster. A guy who comes back from the dead being sewn by different body parts. Him being the 1001th experiment. The very last one before the Alchemist that created him dies, 100's of year pass, and we find a new ava- I mean with the Alchemist dead the Frankenstein's Monster, which I will never type again so lets just use his name Winter, is found and kept in an experimenting facility. Where he is practically tortured. As they try to understand his immortality. Him not being to understand emotions or being able to feel. These sort'veof things happen without him taking much thought into it. Until one day they decide to make him meet a girl named Jane. Jane is a aspiring writer so she jumps at the chance of meeting this guy. So now they cohabitate. So he lives with her trying to understand what he is doing and what not. And she wants him for her story. So this story is meant to showcase that Winter has in fact a heart and emotions and shit. He slowly but gradually learns this. At least thats how its supposed to be. The series at the beginning is a bit over the place. Which is partially why i liked it. I thought it was gonna be cliche but its actually quite dramatic. So it somewhat subverted my expectations. As you'd expect from this series there is a twist however it is revealed too early. Granted it dramatic, and has the intended but what am i gonna do now? The series just sort've fizzles out in quality. It still goes strong from the start but it was like i had no idea what was gonna happen next it was so chaotic. Partially due to the fact of the murderer storyline the author added. Also yeah there is this murderer who is in love with this blind girl. They have a toxic relationship. Author shows that its romantic but its Toxic AF bro. Red flags everywhere. Its cute in its own way except when you know the murderer is trying to murder the blind girl to show that he doesn't care about her but also stops at the last second because he does care about her. This happens a couple times. There is also the main villain of the series who is this really hot chick who i wish would step o-, Who has an incredibly dominating presence. Some of it can be because of her good looks, other because she is kind of awesome. The way she looks, the way she smiles. She owns the room she enters you can tell. She definitely was one of my favorite characters in the series. She has such an absurd amount of swagger. But yeah throughout the series Winter learns what it means to be human. Early on when the change was gradual. It was enjoyable to see that gradual change. He was mean due to curiosity. He was like a kid doing shit just cuz. He was turning slowly human. But then suddenly one chapter later he basically becomes fully human? Like he overnight becomes showing every expression there is. It's like a switch was flipped. I didn't really like that part about Winter woods. It just felt random rather than the gradual change the series was going to show me. The parrot can suck a bag of dicks. Worst character in the series. Can't believe what happens to him throughout the series. The ending was poor. But even more so than i expected. Not only was the ending rushed. Everything was resolved in completely and utterly convenient way? Bullshit. Not only that there are still a shit ton of questions remaining. The facility that Everyone works at that experimented on winter has the worst security in all of mankind. What the fuck! Also the romance was good. It went further than i expected and was adorable albeit again inconsistent as shit TLDR: Chaotic but fun start but fizzels out in quality and it just can't keep up. 6/10
A few thousand years has passed since an alchemist created Winter. He is now living with Jane learning what it means to be alive as a human. (Source: LINE Webtoon)
Winter Woods is a Sci-fi/Fantasy + Romance comic with fresh art, characters and story. The characters are very well made and relatable. the character development of winter who is learning human emotions is portrayed very well. The art or should I say the Direction(as in directing a movie) is what has conveyed the feelings of each characters beautifully and made this story a success. that is the end of my review, but if you want to know the summary of the comic in detail then here you go... PLOT SUMMARY A long time ago there lived an alchemist who lost his son, to overcome his sorrow he startedcreating a human by using the parts of dead people, after a lot of failures he accomplished creating a human with emotions, they both lived together, until the alchemist turned very old and passes away leaving behind the human he created and Roy - a parrot he created who has six senses and can talk, but roy has a Key that needs to be wound up periodically like a toy to keep his memories intact. A few years ago he was discovered and was experimented upon for research purposes till now, even though he seems to live perfectly without ageing he doesn't seem to be showing any hint of Emotional Quotient The lab sets him and the parrot to be with Jane - a writer wanna be who is waiting to hear a good story which would make her be accepted in a publishing house, which she has been failing so far. Jane takes them in with her thinking their story would be beneficial to her without knowing much about their past or the lab monitoring the house. after they start to live together, he was named Winter Woods by Jane and the story continues with Winter getting fond of Jane and learning to feel emotions and becoming more humane, but becoming a complete human had the consequence of winter facing all the TIME he has denied till now.
To summarise Winter Woods is a very nice webtoon, with a story that renews a quite common plot, making it feel new. The art, the characters are wonderful and contribute plenty to this. If you like the type of smooth, warm relationships without any useless barriers between the characters and hardships that seem real and justified, I warmly recommend Winter Woods to you. Story - 8 The story is a positive, romantic version of Frankenstein. A young boy that was created by an alchemist is sent to live with a young writer, Jane, to see whether he is really alive and can be considered a human. Thestory basically follows their life together. It's the type of story that I personally enjoy very much, but I didn't give it a 10 because the end felt a little rushed (especially for side characters) and lacked the emotions that I had felt during the story. Art - 10 I personally enjoy digital art without being an absolute fan of it, but I gave it a 10 because the webtoon just felt like an explosion of colours. The story takes place in winter and I could feel the cold colliding with the warmth of the characters and their relationship. Winter is the "non-alive", with clear white skin, light blue eyes and black hair, and Jane is the "full of life" one, with shining green eyes and red hair. They represent this colliding. It is extremely pleasant. Character - 10 Definitely the best aspect of the webtoon in my opinion. The transformation of the characters was wonderful. At the beginning, I had trouble identifying and sympathising with some characters, and was a little worried that I never would. But as they changed, they became more and more loveable and attaching. My only negative point would be that all these changes in character took place over one season, whereas they didn't experience a single change in centuries. But nevermind, it was still very enjoyable. Enjoyment - 9 I think this is a very personal category, but if you like this type of story, I think you would enjoy it too. Overall - 9 I really recommend this webtoon.
Stunningly Beautiful! I've completed reading more than a hundred chapters/episodes of this webtoon. I guess the one added on the data of myanimelist is for season 1 only. Regardless, this is one of the webtoons that I really love. The story is not that amazing, but it has lessons and that's what I loved the most. The art is beyond amazing. There are manga with great art but I've learned to love webtoons lately because of the beauty in digital art. the characters in the story are loveable, not all, but most of them will touch your hearts. The ending was quite abrupt, and the authors did mention about it inthe end of the chapter. However, Im hoping they could make some extra chapters/episodes of the future lives of the characters. Thank you to the author and the artist.
