I honestly don't know if I recommend read this shoujo manga. Personally I didn't like it much, although I must admit that it kept me entertained for the entire duration of the story without boring me too much. The protagonist is a little better than the average shoujo manga protagonist, but she still didn't manage to make me attach to her. The male lead didn't stand out much either, and he's not my type physically either. I was also a little disgusted by the fact that some characters in this manga transformed from animals to humans (and vice versa) if someone kiss them. I don't know, maybe someone might findthis idea original and cute but it disgusted me a bit. I don't find anything cute or romantic about kissing a cat, even if it were my boyfriend. I wouldn't find it something lovely to do! The drawings are nice but not the best, in particular I don't really like how the mangaka draws the male protagonist's mouth. I recommend it to cat lovers and anyone looking for a light romance read. Ah, if sex scenes bother you (even if they're soft) this manga is not for you.
Erina Wada has no trouble being composed in the company of her classmates, but the moment she lays eyes on a cat, she regresses into a cooing, googly-eyed mess. Therefore, it is no wonder that when she spots a cat in danger in her backyard, she jumps to rescue it without a second thought. What follows is a thorough cuddling session as Erina fawns over the sheer cuteness of the cat. However, as she raises the cat to her lips and kisses it, the cat morphs into a man who is stark naked. Overcome with shock, Erina faints. After regaining consciousness, Erina shrugs off her earlier encounter as nothing more than a dream. So when the same cat visits her and kisses her without warning—turning into a man again—Erina is too stunned to react. Adding to her already growing confusion, it dawns on Erina that the man is Kou Nekoyama, an unsociable boy from her class. As unfazed as ever, Nekoyama declares that Erina is now his master—leaving her in a state of disarray. What will come to be of this strange arrangement between a high school girl and a mysterious shapeshifter? [Written by MAL Rewrite]
I gave it an 8 to be realistic, but this was one of my comfort mangas which I was reading as it was coming out so I appreciate it so much! It has such an interesting, even fresh story, and I'd say it's more between shoujo and josei than strictly shoujo (and I really liked that!). It's got some hooottttt moments but everything is within the bounds of subtlety and decency. The idea of a person transforming into a cat with kisses reminds me of Tokyo Mew Mew, even though I don't know where the idea actually originated from, I am just sharing my observation. Thereaders can find this idea for a story either weird or amusing, but, personally, I was really torn between those two. However, the characters won me over with their sweet relationship and everyday life. This isn't one of the best stories I've ever read, it really isn't, but I think you can find comfort in it and it is a page turner, it's sweet, relatively short, lively, it gives you butterflies, it's overall very nice and you get good looking characters. (One weird thing I came across is the appearance of that girl that's supposedly mc's cousin? Idk, if anyone can explain that part I'd be grateful, I don't wanna spoil the manga)
This one really flew under my radar! I'm honestly not a huge fan of boy-turns-into-animal trope as it can be pretty predictable and boring (unless done correctly like Fruits Basket), but I was pleasantly surprised and happy I ended up reading this one! It's a fairly simple read, and can easily be finished in one sitting with only 25 chapters. The story itself is pretty surface level, not much happens, and there's really not much conflict or fleshing out of any of the characters, though I feel this was done purposefully to keep it a light read. Because of this, the relationship between the MCs developquickly and effortlessly. The real enjoyment I found was the artwork and dynamic between the MCs. I feel that was enough to keep me reading, but if you're looking for anything deeper than this you may not feel satisfied. I will say, this one is STEAMY and reads almost more like a josei rather than a shoujo. So while it's light and fluffy, there are some very intimate scenes that are done very well. Overall I do recommend this one, especially for those looking for a straight forward romance with a lot of teasing and intimate moments. I will say, the one thing I would have really liked to see is their lives beyond high school, it always makes for the perfect icing on the cake for me :)
