Tomogui Kyoshitsu is... bad. I was looking for another word to describe it but that's the only thing I think of when remembering how reading this manga felt like. The story? Nonsensical, cliched for the genre (what is up with the 'king's game'-like manga, anyway?) and absolutely disgusting. This is coming from someone who enjoys gore. I'm trying not to spoil it much, but there was NO NEED whatsoever for certain things to happen to the female characters. It wasn't done in a decent or meaningul manner and was clearly there to shock the reader and attempt to make the manga seem darker than it alreadyis. The pacing is dreadful and all over the place. One chapter the characters go around talking to each other about nothing and in the next one so much happens that you can barely understand wtf is going on. Art? It's okay. It seems like the poor artist who had to draw this mess didn't write the story at least. It was pretty average. Characters? My god. They are awfully written and developed. The main lead has as much personality as a sack of potatoes, and guess what? For some reason everyone is in love with him! Almost every guy is a douchebag who may or may not end up sexually assaulting the female students and said girls' personality amounts to feeling jealously over one another or, you guessed it, liking a guy and thinking about said guy. That's what most of them amount to. Jesus christ. My enjoyment was almost null if it wasn't for the fact that this is so, so bad, I had a bit of a laugh reading it. Who approved this? Which poor sods had to publish this? I felt sorry for them. Overall, if you like enjoying things and having a good time reading manga, skip this immediately. If you're a poor soul who read this out of curiosity like me, then godspeed, my friend. Godspeed.
On a day like any other, Shouta Amano plans to confess his feelings to his crush, Koharu Saeki. However, he receives a strange text about something called the "Friends-Eater Game," informing him that he has a "healthy status" and that his antidote is someone's fingers. He assumes it is just a prank, but later discovers that his entire class received the same message, including Koharu. Later, Koharu calls him to the roof, and she reveals that her message was a bit different than the rest: she has an "infected status"—and her antidote is Shouta's fingers. The two of them brush off this strange development, and Shouta uses the moment to confess to her... only to have her die brutally in front of him a few seconds later. Realizing that Koharu's death was caused by not heeding the orders of the message, Shouta and his classmates must play the Friends-Eater Game and follow every horrifying command within the time limit, or face a gruesome death. This is a masterpiece!! It might not have belivable characters, or good art, or good fights, or a good Ending, but it is fun. There aren´t many works this bad that still take themself serious. If you like other fellow masterpieces like wakaliwoods bad black, or the Room, you will find some mayor fun in this. The pacing is very fast and the only thing that is objetivly amazing in this. The real best thing are the characters though. They go from "I want to kill myself" to "I will eat everyone" to "I want to sleep" in 3 panels. The level of unrealness, is unobtainablein other works of the same genre. There is no reason not to read this now!
This manga is just....bad? There were so many unnecessary scenes that felt like they were added for shock value or something, in reality it just made the story suck. In my opinion the story was so rushed and boring, it's like the further you got there were more stupid 'plot twists' that got added last minute. Sort of as is there was no real idea as to where this story was going and stuff was added as it went on. Oh and another thing that happened a lot just as you feel like you're caught up on everything all of a sudden you get hitwith a characters dark past that somehow is only know affecting them because that totally makes sense. I don't know read it if you want but beware they ending really sucks and is predictable yet not really?
Friends-eater classroom is a complete mess of a manga. I would not recommend reading this at all. If you want to read it just because there are some gore scenes, skip it. There are other gore mangas that do it a lot better. (Spoiler free review) I was actually surprised to see that the manga subverted some expectations and had some twists to the usual clichés of the genre. I would have loved it a lot if the execution wasn't atrocious. The manga suffers from a weird pacing issue: even as the game progresses, you can't really sense a "progression" in the story. Characters behave the sameway in game 15 as they did in game 3, and their reactions (or their lack of) makes them feel so unrealistic that it alienates the reader. The artist does a decent job on the art department, but that's all there is to it. Characters have a pretty generic look and the gore is ok but not enough to make it worth the read. I definitely don't recommend reading it. Skip this one.
If you're fine reading such themes : R*pe and sex cult, it's a safe to continue. Warning, this manga also contains: Cannibalism, non-explicit ped*, non-explicit animal torture. Here's my thought. TL;DR: Many dark themes but too rushed, predictable, zero development, weird romance, no emotion. The story itself isn't as unique as it is just another death game. But it's completely fine by me as long as it's enjoyable in the end. Yet, this manga isn't fulfilled my lowest expectations. I think it's nice to clarify that I'm not gonna against author's rights to build their fantasies into literature, I appreciate all of 'em (except Netorare, hehe) The story is toocliched. Foreshadow isn't function as a sign anymore but a huge spoiler, too predictable, which is a fatal mistake in building a suspenseful story. Even the author named every chapter's title as one of its spoilers. The pace is too rushed, no emotion you'll get towards character's death, character's past, and even the rape attempt feels hollow lack of hate. Some character's actions are meaningless. It's kinda realistic that the author tried to depict mostly into sexual desires in midst of panic instead of cult religion like it mostly done in most literature I've ever known. But still I can't think those reasoning. Desires in female characters got involved in sex cult are unconvincing and seems like too forced. Fact that the story is too rushed in 39 chapters supports my idea. And finally, the ending is super cheap and hard to relate to the actual main story. Too much characters in only 39 chapters while they got no development at all. Yuki might be my best for her feeling towards protagonist, but that's all. The romance element is weird, character's personalities are all too fantasy. The drawing is also weird. It's not bad but just weird while I love the book cover. If you ask about my enjoyment. Yea, I surprisingly enjoyed this manga, but it's just because I just want to read something.
