(Contains spoilers, not the first part though.) I have a little bit to say. I was able to read 60 something chapters and then the ending (Because this is all I could find/is around). This manga is not a very enjoyable read. The only reason I finished it is because this manga makes you want to know what happens. The art is less than average, the characters are less than average, and the story is decent. The ending is pretty good and wraps it all up. I regret reading this manga and I recommend avoiding it if you are thinking about reading it. There is so muchgore, torture, and murder that just makes it horrible. The fucked up things stop for a couple chapters then come back. It's not worth it if you except anything happy to happen. (Spoilers ahead.) The MC is a weak ass bastard. The one thing that is clear throughout the story is that the FMC would be easy to kill. Of course the goal of the MC is to kill the FMC because of what she has done to the people around him. But he only tries like twice(?). Mark Wahlberg has said that if he was on one of the planes that struck the World Trade Center during the September 11th attacks that, “There would have been a lot of blood in that first-class cabin and then me saying, ‘OK, we’re going to land somewhere safely, don’t worry.’” I don't want to say that it would've been different if I was there but there is a lot of times that she could've been killed and nothing happened. The ending is pretty good? It's a "Ten Years Later..." ending but I think it wrapped up that pile of shit with a bow. It has been a couple days since I finished it, and at first I disregarded the ending because the fucked up parts of the series left me feeling awful. But I did enjoy the ending after I thought about it. This series made me feel like shit and there are very few reasons to read this. The only reason I am even reviewing this is to give my opinion to anyone that might want to read this, and the only reason I am able to write a decent amount is because I gave this a couple days to forget about the torture and gore and fucked up things in this manga. The manga is very clear on how it is going to be. If you like gore and psychological and tragedy, you might enjoy this more than me. Even with that said, the story is alright. Most of the chapters is just torture/gore and backstory. You get what you sign up for, so even though I feel the characters are weak, the enjoyment for me was very little, and the art is very lacking, I'd say a fan of the genre may enjoy some parts. That's why I give this a 4 but I recommend most people to stay away.
Kazumi Ichinose's first love was brutally killed before his very eyes. Blood pooled around her lifeless body, her eyes vacantly stared into nothing, and her murderer laughed over the fresh carcass in glee. Though they were all only in elementary school, the perpetrator was Saki Midou, a girl whose timid and sweet appearance belied a vicious and lovesick killer. Though Midou was detained, this event scarred Kazumi, causing him to gradually shut himself out from the world. Now in high school, he has only two friends, one of whom is the lively and cheerful Shino Yotsuya. Through her hard work and honest feelings, Yotsuya is able to break through the barrier Kazumi built around himself, but their budding relationship marks the start of a harrowing future. Midou's obsession led her to murder all those years ago, and it seems history may be repeating itself. She is out to prove that Kazumi's heart belongs to her alone, no matter who stands in her way, and even Kazumi himself may not be safe from her twisted rendition of "love." [Written by MAL Rewrite]
While really difficult to read, this manga perfectly captures what it is like to be a victim of a psychopath. You're completely helpless against your captor in a way that nobody would ever understand unless they've gone through the same thing themselves. I felt really bad for the MC throughout the story and was really worried that the manga was going to come to an end with a horrible conclusion. I'm happy to say that the ending was actually pretty well written and tied up loose ends nicely. The art is very moe which contrasts with the content well. Overall a good read that canbe finished in a few hours.
With such a straightforward storytelling and pretty simple artstyle, it may be no great piece of art, but overall keeps tension well enough to keep us invested. Many would consider this manga being too, so-called, ‘edgy’, because it shows twisted thinking of a psychopath and its victims in a very awkward way, and that may be very hard or even grueling to read for many people. Be ready for a lot of blood, torture, psychological damage and other kinds of violence. Characters are developed just for the needs of plot progress, which is enough. The manga offers pretty good insight on what the victims of a psychopathmay feel, particularly fear, grudge or even episodes of insanity and irrationality. The same goes for the other side. We get into the head of a psychopath and her emotions (or rather lack of them). What is especially well showcased, is her behavior, including deceit, obsession, cruelty or fanaticism. There are also some action scenes spread throughout the story. Some other parts are very hard to get through, however, whether because of too much 'psycho-stuff' is happening, or the exact opposite – blandness of other story elements (there are some parts where virtually nothing happens). The story contains strong psychological/suspense elements, but is weak on other aspects of storytelling. This kind of story is certainly not for everyone. But, if one happens to be in the target group, it is very likely one may get hooked until the last page. With all the insanity that accompanied the story, it was concluded well enough to be considered decent. Pros: + adrenaline-filled experience + keeps us invested until the end Cons: - frustrating read - attracts only a specific group of readers Double-edged: +/- lot of violence, blood, torture and other 'edgy' elements +/- character behaviors may discourage some readers +/- plot progress goes up and down; sometimes intriguing, sometimes boring 6/10 (OK)
I'm going to be blunt: This manga is not for everyone. It contains heavy themes such as torture, trauma, murder, and extreme violence, which many readers will consider edgy or disturbing. If you are sensitive to this type of content, it is best to avoid it. The narrative often strays from the main plot and includes several filler chapters. While this can disrupt the pacing, it also contributes to the manga’s unpredictability. The story feels genuinely unique, though some character motivations are difficult to fully understand and are not always well explained. One of the most divisive aspects is the ending. Readers who dislike tragic or unsatisfyingconclusions will likely be disappointed. Personally, I found the ending fitting for the story, even if I would have preferred a darker and more ruthless approach from the main character. I understand, however, that most readers may not find it satisfying. Overall, this manga offers an unconventional and unpredictable experience, but its violent content, uneven structure, and controversial ending make it a niche recommendation rather than a general one. Truely One of a Kind
I recommend this if you're a fan of yandere characters and disempowerment. Don't read it if plot inconsistencies or excessive torture bothers you. I came across this manga randomly, so I didn't really have any expectations. Gore and torture in manga don't bother me, but I expected this one to be much more violent than it turned out to be. The story is about a girl who's in unrequited love with a boy and the lengths she goes to in trying to be with him, told from the point of view of the boy. It was interesting to see an entire manga structured around the yanderearchetype, but the characterization and plot consistency were lacking throughout the narrative. Story: 6 / 10 POTENTIAL SPOILERS - The plot spans many years of the main characters' lives - not something that you'd typically see in horror manga, but it works here. The narrative flows pretty well until the build-up to the conclusion, which isn't all that impactful or satisfying. It's not bad, but you probably won't remember the story over other elements of the manga. A lot of the torture sequences / violence performed are pretty similar, but there are a few surprising and unique moments scattered throughout. Inconsistencies in characterization and consequences really subtract from the impact of both the plot's harsh moments and its victories. Art: 9 / 10 The art style wasn't what I'd expect from this genre of manga, but it ends up feeling perfectly suited for the story being told. It's cute like a kid's manga, but the artist's attention to detail is clear, especially in things like the characters' facial expressions or clothing design. The gore almost exclusively takes the form of blood and cuts with minimal detail, so even moderately squeamish people should be able to tolerate it (as long as they aren't uncomfortable with torture scenes!) Character: 4 / 10 Several characters lack consistency in their personalities and behavior, and despite the amount of time that passes it feels like all the characters have the exact same personalities that they did when they were kids, except with more anxiety. It kind of feels like the characters mostly embody archetypes, with a lack of any unique characterization or personality. That made it kind of difficult to care about them beyond the typical feeling of not wanting innocent characters to get hurt. The antagonist's capabilities are also very inconsistent, which really takes you out of the narrative at times. I really enjoyed the author's exploration of lasting trauma and the process of recovering from it. It's a subject that even something as prominent as Chainsaw Man handled very poorly, so it was a relief that the subject's interpretation here is both brutal and hopeful. Overall: 6 / 10 I don't think I would have stuck with this one if I knew it would be so iffy on the consistency. Decent violence, forgettable story.
