Canaria-tachi no Fune

The cover of this manga really captivated me; and therefore I read it. The beginning of the story was good so far, the mystery got me going and then it went downhill.... The story had a lot of potential at the beginning but then it got confusing to a point were I was reading it just to get it over with. There are many things that do not make sense at all and leads no where and there is no conclusion at the end; just a bunch of crap in my opinion. The art could fool you into reading it but I would say notto bother reading this, not even out of curiosity.

The manga had good ideas, an amazing beginning with outstanding surreal art. The story was truly captivating and it could be interpreted in multiple ways, which was crazy. At first I thought the whole manga was an allegory, but it turned out the story was quite literal - which doesn't means that there aren't interesting themes explored in it. The problem was that it ended abruptly. Like, really abruptly, to the point that you can't understand what was everything about even though the story spill the beans to you. That's because everything is so fast. At chapter 4 you have a deep, careful and compelling storyand 2 chapters later the author has to rush everything like the water had already started boiling and she should turn the stove off and pour the water on the tea pot (weird analogy, I know). Despite that, the story is good, and as I said, it'd deep enough you can interpret it in various ways, besides all its cool themes. The art is also great, the sceneries are breath-taking and the character drawings are also neat. Overall, Canaria-tachi no Fune is a thrilling story - until chapter 3. After that, it's rushed and it looses what made the story so good - its mystery, deep themes and pacing. Nonetheless, it's a good manga, a good narrative that I think people should read, despite its errors. Thanks for reading, Onii-chan! ♡
