The plot/character is quite generic like most most BL mangas; MCs being together because one has fear of darkness (childhood trauma) so the other main lead was asked to sleep with him and feelings developed overtime (the usual cliché plotline). However, the artwork done was very unique; it was very clean and refreshing as you can immediately tell from the main cover. The two main downfall of this particular manga were: (1) not a complex story but had the potential to be one specially with Kachou's childhood; (2) tw: incest-- this element was unnecessary to the plot and it was also one of the reasonswhy I didn't rate the manga higher. The concept of incest was not heavily focused here -- it was lightly used -- but it was still bothersome because it's disgusting and I can't understand anyone using it as a form of "love" or "romance". The author has the potential to produce much better complex yaoi work and I'm looking to reading more of their work in the future.
Adults have secrets. One night, after hearing a scream, Takimoto Kaoru is suddenly held tightly by someone in complete darkness. He was too surprised to retaliate, but the smell that tickled his nose was… of Sakuma?! In addition he tells Takimoto to sleep with him tonight"?! Takimoto, who couldn't refuse an elite superior is now being used all over the place! And the appearance of a troublesome yandere-ikemen, Iwase Yuutarou, doesn't help either. A bitter love, where the guys' wounds and secrets overlap, is here. (Source: justpeachyicedtea)
As what the title, translated in English says, “Stay with You in Total Darkness” this manga is not your generic manga, I can say. Although this manga is definitely a fluffball, there is also a very prominent undertones of drama, psychological and even comedy. I don’t mind much the touch of “incest” (If anyone pointed that out already) here because I don’t think that it is the main plot of this manga. Since it’s tagged as yaoi here in MAL, I’m really glad that it is not focused on R scenes. I like how the two main characters struggled to understand and accepteach other and they have their own unique characteristics that we can’t see in a lot of BL manga. What I really like about this manga is the art, I seriously love the art. The mangaka has her own distinctive style that is very notable. And I actually think that most of her characters are very trendy and modern. The emotions and the actions of each character are portrayed incredibly in every chapter and didn’t changed a bit until the extra pages. I actually really like this manga and I re-read this many times already.
I thought this was gonna be a deep story from the first pages. The first chapter was really good, despite the comedic scenes and kinda awkwardness, it was emotional in a way. The other chapters changed my opinion about this manga, I really thought it was gonna be something about overcoming one's past and trauma, but no. For me, this story felt kinda mixed. It was good in some aspects but others not so much... The trauma could've been handled better, we don't even get proper closure. Did he overcome his trauma? Therapy? How is he suffering from that trauma since he was a kid withouttrying to get proper help? His fear is poorly handled. I completely disliked the brother. Not the character itself, the character could have been completely normal and logical, but how they made him interact almost romantically with his brother and look like he was in love with him. It was unnecessary. His character would still make sense as a brother that wants to protect the other WITHOUT the being in love with Him part. They don't specifically mention that he loves him but you get such strong hints as to that. It's really weird and I would have gone much better without it. Both main characters are nice, the dark-haired one being really cute. He made me smile sometimes. The last chapters are just cute haha It's a fun and entertaining story.
