I think the best student/sensei mangas are the serious ones where the student actually behaves like a student, and you can see the conflict the sensei goes through (in the end of the day, who wants to read about perverted jerks who have no problem preying on minors?). And this is exactly what Empty Hearts is. Actually, this manga had me taken in from the first page just with the student. Takumi LOOKS like a teenager. It's so great. A lot of the time I can't take student/sensei yaois too seriously because they have a 16-17 year old boy being taller, broader and stronger thana (~)27 year old man. It just doesn't click. But in Empty Hearts, not only is the art beautiful, but the characters are believable. Takumi is kind of scrawny; tall, but in the skinny, I-just-grew-10cm-in-a-year kind of way; his face is somewhere between mature and too babyish to be an adult; and the long hair is just a killer
Jun's unspoken love for Ryuuta is a secret to everyone... except Ryuuta's little brother, Takumi, who would love to have Jun to himself. Now in high school, Takumi is student, Jun is teacher, and Ryuuta is moving on with his life. Takumi offers himself to Jun as a substitute for his brother, but will it be enough to fill their empty hearts? (Source: DramaQueen LLC)
