This is a story all about how a guy with a foot fetish starting making shoes for ladies in his neighborhood.....again. Story was actually pretty good with some decent MC growth and funny situations. You even get to learn a bit about feet. Which, is cool I guess. Story got axed in the most rushed fashion you can imagine, even Jason Vorhees would be impressed. But up till that point it's pretty decent with some conflicts and challenges for our MC. Characters are drawn well and actually look different from one another (something I appreciate more and more as some characters in manga now arelooking too similar) and while the locations the story takes place in are limited you get a nice feel for it. Good quick read, give it a look but know it was axed.
Nishimura Shousuke is a local shoemaker with a leg and foot fetish who was once famed for making women's shoes. However, after having to make a difficult decision he has decided to never make a pair of women's shoes again. Until one day, a high-school girl enters his shop with a particular set of shoes that were once created by Nishimura and were in need of repair..
Chances are if you found a short manga like this, its because you were looking for a "certain interest". To answer your question, yes there is a bit of it in here. Enough to peak your interest, but since the manga is short you may want to go somewhere else to find what you're looking for. As for the general review of the manga...I think its worth the read. The characters are interesting enough to finish the story, but honestly the manga is so short its hard to say much else. Going to keep it real though...if you aren't into feet you could probably skip itand read something else. If you are, then you might relate with MC a bit more and how he gets tempted by some of the simplest things.
Did I learn anything from reading this? Yea I learnt that there is a scale of how serious your fetish can be and that is it. Am I a better person now, probably not. So what is the purpose of this manga because it doesn't deal with the seriousness of having a fetish and how it ruins your life. It doesn't deal with how divorce can affect a person. And it doesn't focus heavily on the romance side either. (Atleast it has more romance than any normal shounen). This manga could've dealt with certain themes due to the MC's circumstances but it doesn't. The storyis Mediocre, just a guy who stopped making women's shoes years ago and because of a certain school girl, he starts his passion again. Seen this story played out over and over and it ended the way I predicted, at least there was no drama. The art is good and clearly distinguishes itself as a seinen manga. The characters have depth to them despite how short the story is and there is a fair bit of character development. There is no reason for me to recommend this, but it didn't bore me reading it for some reason.
tl;dr: A manga with solid humor and drama about a guy overcoming a toxic relationship thanks to a new one, though one that doesn't really go anywhere yet. This manga is different from what I expected in terms of relationships, in that it felt like it was less focused on the relationship between Shousuke and Akane, and more on the relationship between Shousuke and Kanae. Now, to be clear, this relationship isn’t presented as a good thing, but rather the relationship Shousuke has with Kanae is a toxic one where she uses his fetish to psychologically and emotionally abuse him. The core of this story was him overcoming that, andit does that pretty well, though the finale for this aspect felt pretty abrupt and not developed enough, but still reasonably satisfying. He’s able to overcome the toxic relationship heavily due to Akane, and so there definitely is a blooming relationship there. However, the development here is quite slow, and even in the end, no progress is really made. The ending leaves it open such that things could progress in the future, but it doesn’t really show any major relationship development beyond some signs that it’s blooming in Akane and that Shousuke might be interested. To be honest, this was my biggest disappointment with this manga, in that for all that happened over the course of the manga it simply felt like it didn't go far enough as a payoff . In addition to that, the humor was solid, often being centered around how strange Shousuke is but not in a demeaning way, and the information about shoes was interesting, though I probably won’t remember it for long. The art was also really good, especially in terms of it’s focus.
