I'm gonna be honest, I already read a lot of yaoi mangas and it's really hard to find one that goes out of the cliches of the genre. But this one does it really well, and in only 5 chapters! Neon Sign Amber is about a man who has little to none expression and is tired of being missunderstood by people because of that. He then meet a guy in a club he works in, and the rest I'll leave for you guys to read. It's the first work that I have read of Tanaka Ogeretsu but I really enjoyed it. The story is super realistic, andso is the art! I was surprised when I saw that the +18 scenes weren't absurd and at the same time were very real and touching! If you are looking for something refreshing (with a little bit of feels, to be honest), then you must read this one. Hope you guys have fun! â€
Yuusuke Ogata has never been good at conveying his feelings through his face, leading him to be misunderstood by his previous girlfriends as emotionless. While working as a bodyguard at a nightclub, Yuusuke meets a regular named Masaki Saya, a male gyaru known for picking up women on a daily basis. In the morning, Yuusuke runs into Masaki againâdrunk and asleep in front of a love hotelâand begrudgingly helps him. Much to Yuusuke's surprise, Masaki is a lot more likable than he seems and can even read his facial expressions. After Yuusuke lends him money, Masaki returns the favor by cooking him a meal every morning. As the two further interact, Yuusuke begins to take an interest in Masaki and discovers an unexpected side of him. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
Okay so basically, if your a fujoshi like me (or fudanshi) this will legit make you do all the little screams and ugly ass excited faces that any good yaoi would make you do. That does not mean its an average yaoi either tho, despite being quite short, i thought the story was acc quite different to other yaoi and i thought it was a sweet development to see the characters views of each other change. Also might as well mention that i found Saya to be one of the most cutest uke and Yuusuke to look the most closest to the average hottie ina korean drama, out of any anime or manga that i have ever seen lol. Wish this was a longer series, i really enjoyed it.
Almost every time a reception of BL manga is like âyoooo this is different, it has like, story and shit, soooo realisticâ, it turns out to be just another absolutely generic and meaningless piece of smut. In those cases ârealisticâ usually means ânot rapeâ. Congrats for not being a rapey story, I guess? Well, not exactly smut, as itâs literally just porn. The whole âstoryâ is just a foreplay for the inevitable fucking in the last (and the extra) chapter. It is a very basic story â two dudes meets in a club, one cooks meal, they fuck. There are also like two pages that mentionhow one of the dudes was bullied in school because of his orientation. Is this the ârealismâ that people mention? Bullying is one of the most common tropes for when youâre trying to make a dramatic portrayal of lgbt themes, if not *the* most common. And this title does just the absolute bare minimum of including it in the story. It really doesnât deserve to be called realistic just for that. Thereâs a reason why there is so much yaoi manga titles, and itâs the same as why there is so much porn in general â most of it is basically the same shit again and again, and the consumer doesnât mind. Other than reading it as porn, there is no reason for reading this at all. If you have read some average BL manga in your life, youâve already basically read the content of this manga.
