uhhhhhh so the concept is dope. it's a very unique story, definitely nothing i've seen before. when i heard about the concept i knew i needed to read this. oh boy i didnt know what i was getting myself into the longer the story went on, the worse it got. the characters were boring and sometimes irritating. plot twists were being pulled out of nowhere and it just completely took away from the once unique story. oh yeah plus it got a bit predictable and the ending was a half-assed attempt at something deep but ended up being cliche and awkward (and ruined a character but mostcharacters were bad to begin with) on the bright side, the gore and death scenes are what made me actually sit through and finish this manga. they were so detailed and gruesome even if sometimes unrealistic. i mean unless all these people were actually wax figures without bones in their bodies. overall the story was half-good, half-dogshit and thats what ruined the whole manga. everything else was either good, decent or at least tolerable. in my eyes that deserves a 6/10 cause it really wasn't that good, but it wasn't bad. i wouldn't recommend anyone to read it unless they want to find out what brought the manga down or if they wants to see the shreds of a good story and an original thrilling concept. oh yeah plus the death scenes :)
A group of high school students were spending their peaceful days freely until they have been chosen as the participants of the game where everyone is being hypnotized until they commit suicide. No one is safe from a sudden death, so what will they do to avoid their fates?
*Warning don’t read if you have a problem with gore or blood* This series was not bad; the story is ok and has some much scuffed gore. With well-done tension and art, it’s a not bad read that takes 30mins to an hour. Story – 7 It’s interesting, not incredibly well done, but enough to keep me interested. The story of these children’s struggle is fun but very gruesome. The continuality of the story is amazing and doesn’t stray away from its idea. Art – 8 Yeesh, this art is gruesome. Not the worst I’ve seen but still, wow. The character designs are fun and the continuation of the artis amazing. I see no real flaws and the gore is entertaining. Characters – 5 These characters are amazingly close to a wood plank. No one is particularly special and all have their flaw, but I have to say that the way the writer makes you hate the characters is great. It really allows you to enjoy the deaths. There are no real main characters aside from Kashimura, who kind of gets thrown around by the other characters. Overall – 7 It’s nice, but very gruesome. I like the story and the suspense built by the writer. I would recommend, but it is very cruel and to the point. Have fun!!
I found this manga in a video of The Anime Man, and it got my attention so I started reading it, I must say at first I was so pumped with the plot, it was very interesting and good but as I kept reading the ending was so terrible, the plots twists were starting to be lame and just shock value or to expand the plot. The characters at the beginning were very decent the main girl was interesting but as the plot progressed they all become really annoying. The art was the best of this manga, it was very detailed when it came to the gore, some deaths were a little too far-fetched but nothing that would distract you in the end.
I felt this was a decent survival school game plot in which the students must do such tasks in order to survive the game due to a crazy teacher who wants to harm them for how they treated him. Now I do wish the ending wasnt abrupt but the rest makes you want to read more and more. The character development was good too like glasses girl and Wada were pretty interesting characters who guided the teams to survive the school killing apocalypse. Btw this was in my “to read” list for a while and found out about this horror manga through the great“The Anime Man” himself when he talked about this on some of his videos lately (can’t remember sorry)
Story: 5 Art: 5 Character: 3 Enjoyment: 5 Overall: 5 I think I should preface this review by saying that I personally am not a fan of gore manga. Because of this, despite the fact that the death scenes were drawn well and with excruciating detail, I couldn't really appreciate them, so please take my opinions with a grain of salt. The story was both better and worse than I expected. I wasn't sure how the author would be able to execute such a concept at first, but their exploration ofit seemed to-the-point and I was not disappointed. At least not initially. Not long after the hypnosis experiment was introduced and began, the author started pulling a lot of major plot twists. That became really old really fast. I think I would have enjoyed the story a lot more if there wasn't a constant stream of contradictory information getting dumped on me almost every other page. In my opinion, if the writer (I say "writer", not "author", because the writer and artist are two separate people) had kept it simple - a group of students are hypnotized to respond to triggers and have to figure out which ones they are - the plot would have been a lot more concise and easier to follow. Similarly difficult to follow were the characters. As soon as I'd begin to trust one, they'd turn out to be the bad guy; once I stopped trusting them, they'd turn good again. That was pretty frustrating. Additionally, the story warped the characters so badly that the only way I was able to remember any of them was because of the uniqueness of their death scenes, and even then, I could barely recall any of their names. Furthermore, I found it really hard to sympathize with the teacher as the story progressed. Even the way he was drawn was unpleasant, which I suppose was the point. As a whole, there was a lot of potential to create much more interesting character dynamics, but the writer didn't do much of that. When it comes to the art, I can't help but feel conflicted. Overall, the style was very nice, but I had one big problem with it: the fanservice. On multiple occasions throughout the plot, the artist would frame the shots in such a way that the readers would be able to see up the girls' skirts, which not only made me uncomfortable, but also had absolutely nothing to do with the plot. I'm also doubtful of whether the several instances where characters were forced to perform sexual acts were actually necessary, and if it wasn't just a way to integrate a form of more disturbing fanservice into the plot. It also felt as if the writer or author (I don't know whose idea it was) was far too eager to include scenes where girls were undressed or undressing, despite such scenes doing little to serve the development of the story. Maybe I'm just too sensitive, but all I know is that those elements of the story kind of bothered me. Overall? I'm kind of glad that I read this since I was curious about the plot for a while before, but at the same time, I find myself regretting the time I wasted on the series. Although the plot, art, and characters did have their moments, my expectations were still let down pretty heavily. I think that, if you're trying to decide whether to read this or not, you should consider whether 1) you're okay with gore (in my opinion it's not that bad, but I know that other people might feel uncomfortable when confronted with art like that) and 2) whether you're going into this with high hopes or with any intention other than killing time. I guess that that's all I have to say on this, so... thank you for reading! I hope that this was helpful to you.
