When it comes to romance novels, and if itβs not about school drama, office, or other every day jobs, this is totaly cute, short, and precise manga. One of my favourite things about story is fullfiled here β a character that change his life, and with it his point of view in life, effected by other characters. Story line is not going very fast, although it would seem that would be that way. This is another good thing for me. The strongest thing in this story is family and itβs meaning, the characters are connected with it, and inspired by it. It is something that brings fate inlife, and something that change purpose for living. Only flaw in my opinion is itβs shortness. Overall my enjoyment was (9) a little bit lower because of it.
Ulises, a brilliant but inflexible soldier, is shunned by the top brass and demoted to a station in a rural area where he meets his new wife Lea. The demotion that should've been a terrible thing turns into a blessing as Lea and her siblings teach the boorish Ulises about family and love. A soothing daily life fantasy about a silent military man and a clumsy new wife. (Source: /ak/ Scans)
tl;dr: A manga that's short, but still doesn't feel like it has enough material to support its length. This manga is only one volume long, but it still feels like it dragged on. There isn't really much plot at all. Character's personalities are only shown at a superficial level, and though character and relationship development occurs and is quite adorable, its really slow. It's just a quick look at the life of peculiarly matched couple that manage to get along well. It felt a lot like a oneshot, but one stretched into a full volume, and hence with really slow pacing. The story isn't bad, and the relationship is interesting enough overall, but itjust sort of drags on. It also doesn't help that the art isn't very good.
So here we go-Time to review a short and sweet love story about a soldier and his wife Story-As you already know, the story of Sasen mo Warukunai is about a war-hero called Ulises,a brilliant soldier who was nevertheless screwed-over by the top brass and demoted as Regimental Commander to a rural area, but Ulises doesn't really care and immediately upon his arrival, somehow ended up marrying a girl without even knowing her name. Thus began the story of Ulises and Lea. The plot is rather episodic but is still connected ,it features Ulises struggling to become a proper husband for the cute Lea as he meets various people who allteach him something new or help him rediscover something he had thrown away a long time ago. Art-Nothing too great but not shabby either, the characters are distinguishable and match their personality,I liked the expressions though, especially Ulises' as he worries over things,Lea also had some cute expressions, the other characters don't really matter as much Character-Ulises is the best husband ever, despite being a man who has been through hell, someone who killed on a daily basis and had thrown away his emotions to remain sane,he is extremely kind and caring even though he considers himself unworthy of Lea(kinda reminded me of Kyros from One Piece tbh).Though he seems to be boorish and gruff,he worries over even the little things concerning Lea,often catching himself off-guard with his thoughts Lea is cute and loving and cares very much for Ulises, but unfortunately doesn't get much screen-time.Her father and all her brothers(except for her oldest one) are in the military,so she had adapted quickly to Ulises The other notable characters include Lea's brothers and Ulises' aide Enjoyment-I'll be honest,7 chapters just isn't enough for a cute love story like this, the story ends just when we start wanting to see more and more of Ulises and Lea.However, even if it did continue,it would probably have been one of those rare romance manga without any forced drama and would have continued just like the 7 chapters showed us(think Horimiya or Bonnouji). Overall-While,Sasen mo Warukunai is not a manga you can get invested in because of how short it is,it is still a highly enjoyable manga containing 7 chapters of a pure and simple love between a husband and wife who hadn't even seen each other's face before their wedding day. I completely loved it,especially moments like the couple waking up after their first night together or Ulises asking his aide advice on why Lea uses the prefix Sir when talking to him and getting depressed over how it appeared like she considered him a stranger by calling him Sir Go ahead and give it a try, even if you were wasting your time, hey,it's only 7 chapters!
