„Series“ being a bit generous name, considering this is just a compilation of two short chapters. Nonetheless, quite interesting chapters. This is of interest mainly for Kamachi Kazuma’s fans, as you can see it as a sort of prototype for his later stories, mainly for the protagonist archetype. Being short stories, don’t expect anything grand, but they work nice in the context of short work. They lay down surprisingly solid worldbuiling for me to get interested in the world and want to read more about it (though unfortunately we only get two stories, even through the stories set up just perfect opportunity to write seven of them).Another strength is the well executed plot twisting, especially in the first story. One downside is that in the first chapter, it might sometimes be hard to determine which of the characters is talking, though I’m not sure if it’s fault of the original writing or of the translation. It also unfortunately lacks illustrations. Overall, feel free to give it a try even if you don’t care about the author, thanks to the short length you don’t have much to lose even if you end up not liking it. As this was originally submited for a contest but didn't win, I do wonder which short story could have possibly been more interesting than this one.
