tl;dr: A decent manga with some good comedy/wholesomeness, but let down by its lack of any development and too much repetitiveness Story: Typical SoL style story, which center's around the 3 sisters/brothers. Most chapters focus on the main pairing in the series, with the obvious tsundere Maiko and the dense as hell Keisuke and a lot of the chapters deal with Maiko trying to somehow convey her feelings while Keisuke acts all oblivious towards them. There are a few chapters that focus on other pairings such as the one between the eldest siblings (which is also very wholesome), but most focus on the main 2. Given how it'sa 4-koma style manga, you normally wouldn't expect too much out of the story, but other series' such as Senryuu Girl shows that even those formats can have development. This story, however, doesn't really have that much. There are a few glimpses here and there, but nothing really everlasting. In a gag manga like Gekkan Shoujo where the romance is more of a background focus it can work, but in this case, where romance is the central theme, this lack of development really hinders enjoyment. Art: Art is really good, characters look nice and they all look adorable when they're in their chibi forms (which look similar to Kaguya-chan from the Kaguya-sama manga btw) or when they're blushing (which happens quite a lot) Character: I'm kinda on the edge with this, on one hand, I like some of the characters because they're fun to watch/cute, but on the other hand, some characters like the main male lead can be kinda annoying at times because of just how dense he is. Most characters find themselves in your average tropes like the tsundere in denial, the very polite yet somewhat dense worker, the healing onee-san, etc. but none of them I found to be too bad (apart from our overly dense male lead) and they all provided some good laughs Enjoyment: I won't lie if I were to say I'm kinda disappointed in this series, mainly cause I like these types of ones where there are already multiple couples kinda predetermined by the plot. I don't think the manga really is over though, even if it was axed and now the author is publishing it on his own, the way the most recent (scanlated) chapter left off doesn't really give off any conclusion vibes
Tsuruoka Maiko and Sasano Keisuke are childhood friends and just entered high school. Their families are neighbors and have been living next to each other for well over a decade. They've been getting along well ever since they've met, but recently there seems to be a divide between them. What could be the reason? (Source: MU)
Otonarisan Game is interesting because it was more an act of love by the mangaka. This manga was cancelled when it reached a single volume in length, then the mangaka chose to continue the story on her own on Pixiv, then she ended it on her own without a firm conclusion. Her love for the characters is undeniable, which is why I suggest reading it even if it is only a humble romcom with a somewhat dissatisfying ending. The manga is a 4koma focused around two families, the Tsuroaka and the Sasano. The two of the three daughters of the Tsuroaka house deeply love two ofthe brothers of the Sasano house. It's just bad luck that the targets of their affection are denser than lead. A lot of the humor in this romcom revolves around the primary couple. Maiko is head over heels for Keisuke, but she is both unable to spit it out and prone to very amusing overreaction. Her older sister, Ranko, is pining after Kenji, and she's not as bad as her little sister, but it provides refreshing change of pace. The last two, Kaede for the boys and Riko for the girls, are more comic relief than There's no problem with the art, it's a sweet and cute style that isn't seen as much now. You sit back and enjoy the cuteness while watching the very funny facial expressions and reactions. I think the main flaw is that once she was on her own, the mangaka did not have the same editorial feedback to help bring the best out of the story. There were interesting ideas, but the execution was not strong enough. I do wish she had provided a more satisfying conclusion, but I guess she was stuck by that point, which is too bad.
