Boys Over Flowers Season 2

Kind of a mess but not half bad either. The series is a sequel/spin-off of the original series. Being set 6-ish years after the original. So although it can be read individually. There is also spoilers for the original as well as some appearances. Though you will be spoiled for the original series if you just read this. It can still be read solo since the series is largely about the new cast. After the F4 have left the original Academy. The new group called the correct 5 have taken over. They are a special group that takes out the poor students. Kids who's parents havebeen bankrupt as such cannot donate to the prestigious academy anymore are forced to leave school. Our main heroine is also on the poor side. As such she must hide the fact that her parents have long since been bankrupt and she needs to work as a cashier to help her mother. But what happens when the Male lead who is also the leader of the correct 5 catches her working there. What happens when the FMC sees him buying those really shitty products that promise instant effect. So now both have a secret they need to keep and starts another push and pull relationship. Its also mostly the love traingle + 2 plus ones. I'll get to this. Now when i was reading this i was bit upset that i would be reading the same thing over again. But after reading through this. I was right. The series starts the same way with the main characters being the Charles dickens To the female lead however. The author actually improves on this much more than the previous. The previous was quite a mess in the beginning but here the characters are more likable. The male lead is dick but is kind understandable why he does those things. The bullying itself isn't as excessive. I think its quite amazing. Boys over flowers and Boys over flowers season 2 is a very similar story of a rich spoilt kid falling in love with a poor girl and this gap makes the series' interesting. However unlike the original series this kinda stays much more refreshing than the original and i think the reason for that is that male lead is more likable. The previous male lead is significantly is more of an asshole and does less than accepted things. Not that you should forgive the current MMC for the shit he pulls either though.... Now lets talk about the love triangle which kind of all over the place. The FMC actually has a fiancée who is the leader of the rival school of where the Male lead is the leader is (because of course he is). I think the author did a really good job of the said romance between these 3. Its very tense filled. And definitely one of the better parts of the series. I honestly don't remember much about this series. There are 2 female leads that are added to spice drama. The first one was decent but the 2nd one was really lazy. Which is why i say this is mostly about the 3 characters. The Male lead the FMC and Tenma, the guy who's name i actually remember. Should you read this series. I guess? Maybe. I don't know. There is good stuff to be had here. And i did enjoy the ending. It was good even if a bit messy. But there was also a lot of bullshit. The problem with the original is that there were lots of bullshit there too but there was more consistent pay off. While here the pay off though large lasted far shorter. Its weird I know. TLDR: In the end If you like love triangle filled romances sure give this one a shot. For me personally, I did enjoy this series but if you want a series that actually consistently good try Kimi ni Todoke instead. 6/10
