This may only be a few chapters long but it sure has one hell of a feels trip. Basically, the story is centered around the robot Praha (often referred to as Hiro-chan) who is created to see how well Robots could blend in with humans. One day she meets a young girl who immedietely strikes her as interesting, from there their friendship takes off. As years pass by the girl eventually falls in love with the robot. Imagine just how complicated that would be? Loving someone but knowing they could never love you back... And that's exactly how the girl feels as she tries tofigure out her feelings for Praha. I can't really talk more about it without giving spoilers, so I'll just end it here. Overall this is an amazing manga and one I would highly recommend to anyone who's looking for a great romance/drama story.
In an ordinary neighborhood, a team of engineers are developing a robot they call Praha, who looks like an ordinary human high school girl. Chika, a 4-year-old girl who lives next door, meets her neighbor and learns her secret. The two girls become friends and high school classmates, and Chika teaches Hiro—as she calls Praha—about human emotions, including love.
Amazing reading! It's a little short, which makes things feel a little bit rushed during several points of the story, but it is a truly beautiful story nevertheless. It's very interesting to watch the growth of the two main characters - Praha (the robot) and her friend Chika (a child she meets at the beginning). Chika's growth is very visible, of course, being human as she ages it is obvious. The manga spans a total of about 23 years, give or take. What's more interesting is the very subtle growth of Praha over the more than two decades, which is less noticeable at first. She never physicallychanges - Her body is always that of a 17 year old girl, but she definitely improves over time. The scientists behind the project are a little bit annoying, they seem to interfere a little too much, which in a way makes sense. Praha does belong to them, but it seems in bad taste at some points. They are not shown much anyways. In conclusion, it's a quick read and I highly recommend it if you like other robot manga, but if you do then I would strongly advise that you should probably find a better translation than the no-name version I read the first time around. The translation group CXC has a much better version that I discovered afterwards.
