[Reviewing till chapter 3] [Specialty: parody, pun, comedy duo, otaku] Story:4 Not very good, it's abt an otaku who lives in her own world, and follows several things the manga tell her, saying that she learns things from manga. But... information in mangas do differ, and are sometimes outrageous. Nothing touched on that... yet. She has a wise friend, who is non-otaku and has her best interests at heart. In a way there is a "comedy duo" effect, the wise and the idiotic. Given how long chapter 1, 2 and 3 are, 4x, 3x and 2x pages respectively, one would expect a better storyline, but some pages were wasted onirrelevant content which gets ignored later like "I hereby give up on being an otaku". Art:7 Detail is there for most pages, btu nothing too spectacular. A few coloured pages at most, not much impression (not sure if there was any). Character:3 Probably the worst factor in here. I couldn't determine Hina's personality, she seems to have a lot of personalities, including being an exhibitionist... I mean a normal girl wouldn't flash her panties in public but there was no sign of that earlier. Plus the things she said, the actions and so on seem strange... some were very extreme. Nana is an "anchor", or control for Hina. She views things objectively and makes the storyline more stable. And Iota was... just kind. Maybe it's cos i only read till chapter 3, but I can't figure him out yet other than him being kind and considerate. Enjoyment:6 Well, I do enjoy the character art, which was detailed and cute :3. And the storyline, though kinda weak, was quite enjoyable. The puns and parodies were quite good as well, though i kinda pity the scanlators (cause some puns dun make sense in eng). Overall:5 I don't really find jokes made about worshiping manga being very funny, although some may. I mean, I honestly dun get how Hina lived until now and how Hina and Nana could stay as friends. I didn't understand some jokes made with direct reference from some mangas (tho they were mostly censored). And most of all, is an otaku really like that (or in her case a Fujoshi).
Closet otaku and school idol 16 year old Aiba Hina announces right at the start that she is going to quit being an otaku, but apparently she was going to stop being otaku because a manga character said he hates otaku. Fujoshi power max! She tries to sell all her most precious otaku collections at I-books at Radio Kaikan 3F, but ends up getting seen by a classmate who was working there part-time at the register. In order to hide her identity as an otaku she decides that the only way to salvage the situation is to assassinate the classmate who saw her in the store!? I don’t know how you end up with the conclusion that it’s better to get the guy as a boyfriend so he doesn’t let the secret out! And that’s the end of the first chapter of the otaku love comedy story. (Source: Mangaupdates)
