Spoiler-free This is my very first review, as I saw not many people talk about this, I was lucky enough that I started reading mere days before the last chapters where released in english, here we go. Story: 8 The story is one of those that explores more themes rather than question-answer type formula, it shows the horrors humanity can make of children, it explores how fragmented people can become as well as how fragmented people can obtain humanity, things appear out of nowhere somtimes and it just is, yes this may annoy many people but for me it's just a story that puts confused people in aworld they don't understand and the people that do keep it to themselves, I like the structure and it's a great ride, I have to agree, the first chapters where absolutely one of this story's greatest assets, they where thrilling, action packed and enjoyable but that doesn't eliminate from great sequences later on, as well as character moments and lessons to be learned from this world, and if you're a Yoko taro fan, there is plenty to be had from his amazing storytelling. Art: 8 While simple sometimes and straight to the point, the gore and actions scenes stand out amazingly, the detail and impact from the punches and use of environments to serve a scene, as well as how the text changes within certain contexts, amazingly done, for the story, the art is perfect. Character: 9 As i'm writing this I realice the characters are much better than I gave them credit for, evoluton, motives, empathy, intrigue, many characters have so much going for them and so much complexity, even ones introduced out of left field get so much love and care, I adore the cast very much. Enjoyment: 8 I really enjoyed my time wirh this manga, intriguing, good art, great gore, loved the themes, critique, it felt a bit like Fire Punch in the dark and brutal way people can evolve, the massacres one can do, the lessons one can wrongly learn, as well as how much down the world can bring you. Overall: 8.2
In the future, supernatural powers not only exist but have become science fact. The "Special Abilities Private High School" is established in order to utilize students' powers for the military. Students are roped onto the battlefield without knowing the meaning of the fight, whether it will save their lives... or spell their demise. (Source: Fire Sanctuary)
[spoiler-free] After years of waiting for a fan translations we can finally dive into "Kimi Shi ni Tamau Koto Nakare". The series had a really impressive start and in the first 5 chapters a solid community was build... If you are new to the series you will probably feel the same as us and start reading it with a lot of interest and expectations. My advise for you is to enjoy the art style and a few moments here and there but not to expect much. There will be a huge amount of plot holes, meaningless scenes and additions to the plot with no purpose in the storyahead. In the middle of the ride you will question a lot of things but most of them won't be answered. At the very end you will feel like a fair share of people asked the series to be axed because of the writing. Art: 10 The art is pleasing. Easy to follow, there are no messy scenes. One of the best art styles IMO. Characters: 7 As an idea the characters are build very well. Each one of them is unique in the series and has it purpose. The writing is crippling them a lot and their development does not age well. You will probably notice it yourself how they can't reach their full potential. Story: 3 It hurts my hearth as a long time fan to give it a 3, but the writing was really not satisfying in many ways. As I said above you will have a lot of unanswered questions at the end and a lot of plot holes will be noticed. The reasons I think the series ended so suddenly is exactly this. The author could not find a way to correct these moments which were getting more with every volume, so he decided to wrap the story... Enjoyment: 5 The potential was huge, but the actual thing was just mediocre. Overall: 4 Mostly influenced by the story.
