Sayu, a newbie when it comes to love, fell in love with the number one cold-hearted prince in school, Kanna...?! This is a compilation of three chapters of the popular series "99% Cacao" and "Yellow-eyed Fish," based on the original work by Satou Takako. Chocolate and tests are best when sweet! Also, if possible, love, too... (Source: MU)

99% Cacao is a sweet and somewhat innocent story which centres around the two main characters Sayu Miyashita and Kanna (I can't recall his first name). I think that although it was a good, short read, the actual story lacked a little originality in the fact that the character's emotions could be so easily swayed. The characters themselves had somewhat confusing personalities, an example is Kanna, who seemed to be a 'bad person' but his personality wasn't nasty and he had the manners to apologize etc. Despite this, they seemed to be all around good-hearted and I thought the art quite fitted the story withthe references to the bitter chocolate in regards to other subjects as a nice touch.
This proved to be a challenge to rate, due to how short it was. I decided the whole thing was just fine for what it is (a quick love story), although it could have been better. The story is nothing new (Girl meets boy, trouble in between, love at the end) but, at least, the dialogues sound more natural than your typical shoujo out there. I felt the situations were a mix of genre conventions and down to earth, realistic behaviors. It’s a shame the art is not at the same level. Sometimes it’s hard to tell who’s who among the girls, and the overalllevel of detail is very basic. In the end, this is a nice short story that tries the most (and success) to live up to its title. While it’s not a gem by any means, I can think of worse ways to spend half an hour reading manga.
Really cute. I’ve read a bit of the authors stuff before, she’s really good at presenting frustrating situations without making the story frustrating to read. [idk but I think that’s pretty hard to do!] I think she got the length right too. Three chapters is perfect, if it were any more it would have felt to similar and become boring. The story is about a happy-go-lucky girl named, Sayumi. She hates fights, lies, and a person named Kanna who coldheartedly rejected one of her friends. During P.E class however, she meets and makes friends with Kanna believing he is actually someone else. It’s a shortstory about the troubles and misunderstandings that take place in relationships, especially when their first starting out. I really liked Sayumi’s character. She’s very defined but is coming to realize not everything is so black and white. Kanna is the typical male shoujo lead. You all know it, the handsome, cold, popular guy. His character seems like he’s genuinely a nice guy just a bit misunderstood. Its only three chapters so it’s a short read, pretty light too. I’d recommend it Story: 7 [good] Art: 7 [good] Character: 6 [OK] Enjoyment: 7 [good] Overall: 7 [good]
