Story 3/10 This manga is not worth reading as the story in the manga is bearable then bam comes the ending......or lack of one Art 5/10 The art well lets just say it's average and move on Character: 3/10 Either complete stereotypes or no link to a character at all seems to be displayed throughout the manga Enjoyment:4/10It was meh for me all I have to say is seems like it would still be better than school days (of which I have luckily avoided)
The manga adaptation is by default not great for having to cram a 40-hour long game into the span of a single volume but somehow, it's still significantly better than the nightmare of an anime adaptation we got. Since the manga is only 1 volume long, it doesn't have the length needed to properly depict the story. So what it opts to do instead is to rewrite the narrative from the ground up. It doesn't cover anything from the NoAH routes and it even outright deletes a few important characters from the story. But the manga handles its time constraints pretty neatly. It rearranges parts ofthe original story and adds original content to it, mixing elements of the VN's chapters together. While one might automatically think that makes it bad by default, it actually rearranged the story in a tasteful way. I think the coolest change it made was in moving the iconic O-FRONT scene from chapter 6 in the VN to the very end of the story. If you were to do the unthinkable and read the manga before the VN, then nothing happening here would make sense. But with context of the VN, it's actually a pretty interesting read to see how they approached adapting such a long story into such a short amount of time. All in all, despite how much harsher the manga's time constraints were, none of the changes it made were nearly as offensive as the anime adaptation's changes. If you haven't played the visual novel, there is no reason for you to waste your time with this manga. But if you have, it's potentially an interesting adaptation that doesn't take much time to finish. Unfortunately, I can't really give it higher than a 5/10 since it's only 1 manga volume long and it just fails miserably at conveying what the visual novel was going for. If you really want a really short recap of the VN, I'd recommend Chaos;Child episode 0 over the manga. But even that isn't much better. Just play the Chaos;Head NoAH visual novel. There isn't a good substitute for it. It's a fantastic story that couldn't work in any other medium.
The series is set in the year of 2008 in Shibuya and is centered around Takumi Nishijou, a high school student at the private Suimei Academy, and some strange events that have occurred recently in the Shibuya area. Two events have occurred so far and is being referenced by the media and the public at large as being New Generation events. The first event named "Group Dive" occurred on September 7th with five high school students jumping to their deaths off of a high tower. The second event occurred on September 19th wherein a male was found dead with a thirty-two week old fetus incised within his abdomen. The story begins on September 28th with Takumi talking to an online friend named Grim. Grim has to provide Takumi with the background about the recent New Generation events since Takumi is not interested local or international news. A person named ShĹŤgun joins the chatroom though he does not say a word until Grim has left the chatroom. ShĹŤgun confronts Takumi and presents him with a barrage of image links that depicts a very gruesome murder. The next day, as Takumi was heading home after spending the afternoon at an Internet cafe, he comes across the same scene that he witnessed yesterday in ShĹŤgun's pictures. He runs away from the crime scene screaming, but not before meeting a pink-haired girl there covered in blood and wearing Suimei Academy's uniform. The story progresses from here with Takumi trying to avoid getting involved with ShĹŤgun and other New Generation events as he is slowly caught in a grander scheme's wheels of motion.
Story 3/10: It had a promising plot but they just failed to properly execute it. They tried to do to much in 11 chapters. If it were a little bit longer, it wouldn't be this bad. Art 3/10 The manga was poorly drawn. It looks a little bit too messy. They tried to make it scary and shocking but it just didn't affect me at all. Character 2/10 The characters lack personality. They were too bland and generic and that is coming from me who loves all kinds of characrers. Enjoyment 1/10 It felt like a chore to finish. I usually don't give low scores but this just really made meso upset. I was expecting a lot more thrill and action. Overall 2/10 This manga isn't for everyone. If you like psychological thrillers you may like this but if you don't it is best that you avoid reading this.
