Really it the anime vertion of the movie 'the nightmare befor christmas'. I found it to be enjoyable to read eventhough I've see the movie many a times. I would recomend it to a Tim Burton and/or like the movie, you should read it. If you don't know the movie, then this is a wonderfull manga to read. Creative, origanal, and fun characters. Seeing holloween and christman to gether my be a mess, but it makes a good story.
This is simply a condensed version of "The Nightmare Before Christmas" movie in manga form. The story is done following closely to the original story but centers more on Sally for the most part. Noticeably Sally does have a different art style drawn which is a nice change from the original animation. The art is spot on in creating what is "The Nightmare Before Christmas". Jun Asuga puts his own originality to this franchise and I love how he changed Sallys design for this manga version. The manga is done really well overall. I would suggest it to people who are actually familiar with"The Nightmare Before Christmas" or like a halloween/christmas love story. Jack+Sally=
Jack Skellington's got the blues. He's sick and tired of his hometown holiday, Halloween, and is longing for something new. But when his soul-searching leads to his well-intentioned kidnapping of Santa, things start getting pretty creepy indeed!
This is basically the same story as the movie. The art was well done and the manga really kept the Manga style, even though the story is Western made. Although I've seen the movie, it was enjoyable to read the story in manga style. Though I did catch myself trying to sing along with the story! Tokyo Pop came out with a new collectors edition that I was able to read and overall I think it is great to buy and keep if you are a fan of Tim Burton. The length of the manga is pretty short. The manga did notcontain any chapters. The only extra added information was a small introduction of each main character at the end of the manga. This is such a cute little manga to have in your Nightmare Before Christmas collection, or for your manga collection in general. This manga is basically the movie in comic form, except Sally has a little more focus than she did in the movie. So if you're a fan of her character you might like the manga. The story follows the movie scene for scene, there's even different font for the musical scenes. The manga's art is obviously different than the movie....which is understandable since it was drawn by a mangaka and not drawn by Tim Burton. So, some characters will look a little off ifyou're a stickler for that sort of thing. Other than that, I highly reccomend this manga if you're a Nightmare Before Christmas fan.
