I read this story (1. Because I like this mangaka (2. pure curiosity I was not disappointed! Shiomi Chika does it again with her amazing & unique storylines exploring all subjects/genres in her story. The cover is very misleading but in no way is this BL. Do you... - love bromance? - enjoy mature/adult topics (drugs, violence, etc...) - like strong main characters? - want to avoid those cliches in shoujo? +more Then this story is a good read!May contain spoilers: The story focuses more on Kazuya, a 17-year old boy who was abandoned in New York and has no recollection of his past except his name. He is also followed around by his partner-in-crime, Keith, who is human but has instincts of a wild beast. Kazuya's black eyes (B-Eyes) have a supernatural effect on those who look into them and using this, he follows orders given by up top. He's shown as a heartless person, but one encounter changes it all. The same thing can be said about Keith. The story is confusing the first couple of chapters, but you gain clarity as you read on. This story explores dark topics, so in no way is it a light-hearted manga. Of all the characters, I love Keith. Shiomi Chika does a wonderful job of developing her characters because you can never truly hate anyone in any of her mangas. If you do, she ends up making you hate them less with the development of the story. The Bromance in this story is so much better than the romance. I continued reading because of what Keith does for Kazuya. By the end of the story, I felt it was a very satisfying read. There is romance, but I think it was pretty mellowed out as the story focuses heavily on Kazuya & Keith's job/character development. Overall, if you have the time check it out :).
With pitch black eyes, Kazuya Shidou is able to show illusions to whoever meets his gaze. If he wishes to, he can even kill people with the sheer terror brought on by these visions. He assumes that his eyes are the reason he was abandoned in New York as an eight-year-old child, but he cannot be certain. He has no memories of his parents or childhood aside from a vague recollection of previously living in Japan. Ever since Kazuya was picked up off the streets, he has worked as a contract killer alongside his feral partner Keith Grangrey. More valuable than the cash he earns from murders is the promise of information turned up by an ongoing investigation into his past. Coincidentally, the two's targets are usually thugs and other low-life criminals; however, they must also eliminate any witnesses to their killings, whether innocent or not. Kazuya has lost count of the number of his victims and has never shown remorse before now—but it seems his feelings have slowly been changing. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
