Mod Note: This review was originally posted for "Alice in Underground", which was subsequently merged into "Chocolate". This is a rather different tale then Alice in Wonderland. It goes along the line that Alice is torturing the White Rabbit and she has done it more then once. None of the other characters help the rabbit and they seem to be self absorbed in what they are doing in the story. She just does as she likes to the poor rabbit who seems only to want to leave her grasp. In the end, it turns out that the whole story is just a girl’s imagination as sheis torturing her rabbit, well, it could also be the rabbits mind too but it’s unsure. You do hear the rabbit’s thoughts at times. The artwork is rather fun and interesting but has a very satanic feeling to it. Each character is depicted as a beautiful boy or girl. There are many hints of bondage and torture without there being any gore or sexual imagery. It’s alright, though I think it could be longer and have much more detail of the rabbit’s thoughts.
Collection of Mitsukazu Mihara's one-shots. 1. Slice of Black Chocolate 2. Kyuuketsuki to Boku (The Vampire & I) 3. Children Can't Choose Their Parents 4. Cut the Angel with a Scythe 5. The End In Common Ruin 6. Deserted Place 7. Alice in Underground
Mod Note: This review was originally posted for "Slice of Black Chocolate", which was subsequently merged into "Chocolate". "This is a an amusing tale with a wonderful twist." Most one shots are known to not have a developed or 'deep' stroy, the characters mostly never connect to the reader and the romance/drama etc: is unrealistic, but in less than 11 pages this one shot gives you a 'full' feeling. The story and way the manga was written was definetly unexpected and when reading I was extremely confused, but after examining the story ( and reading it another 3 times) I finally understood it. The art was verygood and the author, Mihara Mitsukazu, portrayed the characters well and developed them very well thoughout the story in a very short time. In a way the story is sad and I wish it was just a little longer to know a little more. I can't wait to read other magas similar and it is definelty recomemded.
Mod Note: This review was originally posted for "Children Can't Choose Their Parents", which was subsequently merged into "Chocolate". Well, I came into this story expecting a passionate shoujo story about a man and his chicken girlfriend. I got what I wanted. The story is about a man named Mika who gets a new girlfriend whose name is Fabian. Mika tries showing off his love for Fabian but everyone he shows his relationship to acts how I would act, with bewilderment. The story was decent at best, considering it was a one-shot. The art is alright. It is pretty good for a one-shot about a man andhis chicken girlfriend. The best character by far was Fabian. Her luscious feathers and her entrancing stare will make anyone see why Mika fell in love with a beauty like her. In the end, I somewhat enjoyed this one-shot. It wasn't good at all, but it wasn't terrible. It made me laugh with the ending which reminded me of a homunculus video I saw a while back on youtube. Anyways, read it if you have a chance since it is just a one-shot. You will probably get a chuckle out of it.
