08:05 no Hengao-san is A one-shot Manga that involves a boy and a girl that pass each other on the way to school for the past six years. The female being Aki. Story 5/10: It feels like when it finally gets to something interesting is where the one shot finished. If it was more DETAILED with a few more pages adding more emphasis to everything it would have been more of an interesting read. Art 6/10 : The art style is quite rough but quite charming. And therefore it's helps MAKE it enjoyable to read. Character 8/10: Even though it's a one shot, if it CONTINUED I thinkthe main character Aki would be quite interesting if they had done a longer series on the matter. Enjoyment 6/10: I think that unfortunately as it's quite short it feels like they skipped over some things that could have made it way more enjoyable. But for a one/shot it isn't that bad a concept. Overall 5/10: There are much BETTER one shots out there that weren't so rushed, but the concept was pretty adorable, and I really wish I could read more.
For the past six years, Aki and a certain boy have barely exchanged any words. As they pass each other to head to their respective schools every day, their communication has consisted mainly of the nostril-flaring, eye-bulging, and mouth-contorting looks that they exchange. One morning however, this daily ritual is broken when the boy does not respond with a funny face of his own. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
It’s a decent one short for it’s length. It doesn’t have much of a full story to tell, and seems like more of a beginning of a story. A little more would have been nice, and I feel it’s a story that would be nice to follow if a bit longer, but as a stand-alone it’s a little lacking despite being a nice short read. If anything, I think the author is good at making characters and their interactions feel organic/natural (even though this one’s too short to have anything even happen satisfyingly, unfortunately), so it’ll be nice to look out for more related works (asI’ll go ahead and do now!)
