Amazing and brilliant story. I'm surprised a manga that was read and rated by so many users hasn't been reviewed. I decided to throw in my two cents. Well I like this story. It starts off with a young girl named Miu who has a crush on her classmate, an ultra hottie named Amimya. All the girls like him and he even has a fan club and happens to be a Christian. It would seem that the students actually go to a Christian, possibly Catholic or some sort of Missionary school---since a lot of time is spent in the school'sChurch. The school's Church is guarded and maintained by Amimya's family and himself. Well the girl has a crush and does the unthinkable and goes to a book store and buys a book of magic to get Amimya's love. Yup, she does a love spell. Love spell happens to actually call on the Devil himself called Akuma. I love Akuma's character and I'll get into that later. Akuma declares that he'll grant her wish as long as she pays him by giving up her virginity to him. At first she thinks its a dream but wakes up with Satan's mark on her shoulder and him in her life. She makes the deal and ends up finding, probably a month later, that Satan has taken the role as Kai her older brother and his pet crow, Malphas, was given the name Tsubasa and is passing as her younger brother. Satan saw that he was able to manipulate everyone in the school and even her family easily into thinking he's her family and sees none of his magic/deeds seemed to work on Amimya. Confrontation erupts and you find out taht Amimya is actually something else. The story then really starts picking up and developing at that point. You have Akuma the Devil very out of character for any other story. He doesn't do misdeeds and is seen as misunderstood, rather than evil. He does take advantage of a young girl, but she also has deep feelings for him. He's dynamic, persuasive and sensual. One thing to note is that there is smut in this, but it's defintely romantic. I don't see it as one of those domineering males who are taking advantage of women. That is actually something that I wanted to commend the author about. The story had a lot of funny, quirky moments, which is surprising given the topic. The lead girl, Miu, even when she gets silly at times, she actually is a very strong character. She's not easily malleable and she's quite opinionated and strong willed. I was impressed, consdering I thought she would be continously abused; don't get me wrong, it's in there, just not as much as I would have expected. She is a reluctant participate in sexual acts but then becomes rather proactive. The story is actually quite great and I plan on reading the authors other many mangas. Currently her most popular story was Kaikan Phrase, so for those watching the series you know the manga was great (and popular) and this is no different. She's extremely talented and she's definitely got me as a fan. I think most people will enjoy it and most definitely if you don't mind smut and learning a bit about occult topics. Plus if you're a Christian, such as myself you'd already know some of the terminology or most. I knew all of them, but it was great that the author took the time out to do her homework. On a last note because of Kaikan Phrase and this story, I can note the author loves extremely strong, mysterious males who fall in love deeply and when they are with their women, are nearly obssessed but never to the point of ridiculously abusive as can be found in many yaoi mangas or other domineering male mangas. Plus, you can expect much smut in her work, although I do see it as just people being in a romantic/intimate relationship. Not just random or forced sex, although some level of violence or urgency (roughness) that could appear as violence is in the love making of the characters. Nice job and I can't wait to read more. I'm sure people will enjoy this and I totally recommend it.
Miu Sakurai, age 15, attends a Catholic school where she prays every day for her admired Shion Amamiya to return her love. When that doesn't work, she places her faith in a book of magic and tries casting one of its spells. However, it's not love that manifests... it's Satan! "The recompense for the contract to grant your wish is your virginity," he tells her, and this is Miu's virgin crisis! I'm giving this manga a review because someone needs to balance things around here. This manga is not what you'd call good. It is, though, hilarious. Also, it's quite metal, in a way. Manga is entertainment and there are many ways to be entertained. In this case, you'll enjoy the story if you like to laugh out loud at bad dialogue, stupid character decisions and general youthfulness in immortal characters. The completely cliche plot and trope characters make the dialogues and situations so much fun you won't drop it until you finish reading. Then you'll go and write a review like this one. As for art, theless is said the better (though the boys are cute). Overall: you might have fun (as I did), but it'll probably just be a waste of precious time. Unless you're very into BDSM. PS: If you do read it, I dare you not to shout "SATAN!" whenever the main character does. It's compelling.
I can not say enough about this Manga. I LOVED IT!!! Romance. Mysterious characters. Hot Devil Bad Boy. Steamy love scenes and romance that actually made my heart skip a beat. The Story is about a girl who falls in love with a guy at school. He is popular and purer than the first snow, so of course she doesn't believe she can get him on her own. She works a spell and calls upon a Devil to make her wish come true. But there is a price to be paid ... and the Devil doesn't share. The art was beautiful, truly talented. Thestory was unique and i have never routed for the devil so hard in my life. The characters were intriguing and i fell in love with everyone of them. Nothing and no one are as they seem, Truth is in the eye of the beholder, and Love transcends beyond the very gates of heaven and earth. If you like romance, the supernatural, bad boys, and do not mind a few steamy love scenes...then this manga is a Must Read!!! Enjoy!
Note: Some cussing ahead so for those who dislike that, don't read. = Story = - This is the story right here: Girl falls for Satan who is sexually attracted to the girl who gets too involved with her to the point where an angel tries to get her away from Satan. That's it. The plot is basically the idea of what happens to Miu b/c she's involved with Satan. I really didn't like it. And yes, I did read ALL the chapters. I barely made through those appalling chapters. So the story is just... just bad. I wish the mangaka had put some more thought into thismanga. The idea is quite nice, but how it played out throughout the story was absolutely dreadful! - = Art = - I've said this a lot, but I usually give art a 9 or 10. But I gave this one an 8. However, this is solely based on my preference and logic. Usually I just go plain common sense, but the mangaka's art style is quite similar to old schooled manga which isn't my cup of tea. Maybe it's b/c I'm used to modern manga styles, but I generally don't like these types of art. However, since I can't draw better, the score will remain at an 8. - = Character = - Comedy is not a genre in this manga, but I really laughed my fucking ass off while reading this. What the characters say and do are HILARIOUS. I'm not laughing at the characters themselves. This is basically what I laughed at: > The characters' mental states > Satan's cheesy lines (dramatized by the art) > Miu's stupidity > The amount of sex Miu and Satan have > The fact that Satan fucked Miu into front of ------- *spoiler*--------- > The dramatized affects the art gives to every undramatic situation I didn't care for the characters. Miu is literally one of those Shoujo heroines that can't do shit and just depend on that one guy (or guys) that are there doing whatever she wants. She's useless and yet there are these people who pursue her! It's absurd. Satan says he loves her and shit, but honestly, he's just playing along for her body (even though there isn't much...) Satan himself is also a boring character. I don't like him. I don't like any of the characters. I just read it b/c I could. So yeah... horrid.... just.... bad. - = Enjoyment/Overall = - Didn't enjoy this manga at all. Got a lot of good laughs, but I really, really feels disgust towards this manga. I really recommend it for the laugh, but if you don't like humor, don't even try to read this. Also, read this and yell Satan when he appears to save the day. It'll make you laugh harder. -
I loved this manga! I was the second Manga that I ever read and I'm hooked to it for life. A beautiful story of a girl who wants nothing but love from the "Prince" in school. With very little confidence in herself she calls upon the Devil to grant her Wish. There is a price to paid for her love and gets more than she bargened for. I think this is a brilliant story of Love, Lust, Bad Boys, Typical Prince Charming and Rivalry. I would recommened this anyone. The art is great, the characters beautiful and the love scences just take your breath away. I have readthis manga more than once and everytime I'm not disappointed. 100% pure genius!! 10 out of 10 from me ;)
