I probably rated this to high, but lets get into the review. Love Riron (Love Theory) is a comedy romance manga. (There really shouldn't be a harem tag on this) This manga is just so funny, I couldn't put it down from the moment I started reading it. Here's a description of why I love this manga. Story- 6.5 Very cliche story, otaku with no girl experience gets into funny situations. Nothing special or anything I can elaborate on so ill go into art Art- 10 My god. I think everyone who has ever read this can say that the faces on the characters are hilarious. It was soenjoying looking at the various reactions or the characters, and how far the author would go when making a silly face. Its not only the faces but just the way the comedy is shown is just so well done. Even when the situation is serious, you can feel the emotions drawn out from the artwork. Characters- 10 My god. The characters where just so amazing. Every character is filled with tons of emotion. I was about to rate this a bit lower until at the very end where we learn the backstory of someone very important. In this manga, they don't leave characters out. Everyone gets a happy end. Ending- 10 I figured they would end this manga like every other slice of life. But it was quite the suprise how they actually didnt forget about one of the main characters and created such a satisfying ending. Much better then what most manga do. Enjoyment- 10 I couldn't stop laughing. Even during serious moments. The artwork just appealed to me so well. I would definitely recommend this to all my friends, or just anyone who likes comedy.
Loser Yarahata Kanji can't even have a normal conversation with a girl let alone have any kind of relationship with one. But one day a ghost named Aiya appears and declares that he has been tasked with the mission to change Kanji's life. At this rate, the Yarahata name will not live on so Aiya will become a love doctor and coach him on how to develop relationships with girls. The first hurdle comes when he starts a part time job at a convenience store and sees that his co-worker is a hot girl named Yoshizato Saki who also happens to be the store owner's daughter. With the help of Aiya, Kanji, although stumbling along the way, has a conversation with her and builds a relationship. But he has miles to go if he wants to be the kind of person that can date beautiful women. (Source: MangaHelpers)
I don't even know how to start explaining how good this manga is.... Not only are the characters great, but the manga manages to create this amazing atmosphere where all of this "love professor" shenanigans seems plausible and realistic. You can read what the manga is about a few scrolls above, so i'll spare you, but know the art style and the writing combine to make this one of the funniest things i've ever read. The plot is way out of left field, and I didn't care too much for it as much I cared for the characters, but the way it unravels and istold is spectacular. I finished the whole thing in one sitting because I couldn't stop wondering what would happen next. Creating these great characters, and making us feel for them is something really hard to do, but love theory really nails it. I would say something negative about the manga is that it's ending felt slightly rushed. Nothing to ruin the experience, but if you finish reading it you'll know what i mean. (But this just might be post manga blues talking). I don't mean to sound too pretentious, but I know this manga is great, because I feel terrible it's over. I wish the manga would continue for a few hundred more chapters, just so I could see how the characters were doing and how their relationships are going. Again, I just finished reading it so perhaps I'm making it sound too good. I just hope, if you stumble across this review, you give Love Theory a chance, because I guarantee you, if you're into these types of manga, you will not be disappointed...
