If Hakuoki anime is having a bastard love child with Hana-Kimi manga, with a dash of Ouran High School, then that's exactly what this manga is. TBH, in terms of story and characters, this manga is pretty bad, I would give it a 4 out of 10, but because the art is so beautiful in drawing the bishies, I'm being generous and give it a 6/10 overal score. Fanservice for reverse harem fan is the sole purpose of this manga, and the only reason anyone should enjoy this in any way is because we are a sucker for Shinsengumi Bishie and would sit through reading this verysilly shojo manga just to stare at the beautiful art that looks almost exactly like those in Hakuoki anime. If you're in the mood for silly romance with terrible story but a sucker for beautiful bishie, then give it a go, otherwise, don't waste your time =P
For her brother's sake Otowa, Subaru decides to take his place at an all male prestigious high school for a year until he recovers from being in the hospital. She gets to the school and runs into a few strange guys on her first day, but as soon as she tells them her name—they are surprised and make her go to the Lion Club. Hiding the fact that she's a girl will be difficult enough and now she has to deal with this strange group who are forcing her to join their club because they all believe that in their past lives they were members of the Shinsengumi! I stumbled upon this manga through browsing my manga reader since I was looking for a something to read. I was captured by the cover and the synopsis and said to myself to read it. Reading the first chapter makes me excited, however as I continue to read the chapters, it makes me realize that the story was just as simple school life. The gender bender which I was really looking forward was just a cover up to make the story feel like new. I think the strength of this manga is the art. It was one of the reasons why I continue to readit. Just base from the cover it makes you a fan girl already. The characters are interesting, but I feel somewhat like they lack identity or attachment towards the reader. Another thing I did enjoy aside from the art is the little comedy of it. It will not make you laugh as much as like spilling water on your mouth or making your jaw tired, but I think it is simple yet funny. Overall, the manga is just fine if you like anime like Hakuoki, Free and Nijiiro days I think you would like this too.
