The light novel takes a slightly different turn from where the first season of the anime ends and develops rapidly, with the introduction of new and old characters, settings and events that lead to a very intense endgame towards the last few volumes. The story was paced well and even though it was sometimes predictable like other series in the genre, it had many moments that surprising. What I enjoyed the most was the characters, they were really well written with incredible personality and depth to them and in the way they interacted with situations. There was a lot of profound character development to see, especially with the mc and his comrades after they go through a lot of “difficulties”—which would be an understatement. It’s definitely worth the read for a lot of those reasons and I would suggest giving it a shot even if you haven’t seen the anime.
