this is the first time i reviewing something solely because i want it, well i just finished it and the way to describe the story was.... so sweeet, diabetes symptom alert. the story is about a girl who fear to all male because she always think that boys/male are frightening creature that always eat from rice cooker, crush her hand if they hold it and other many bad image about boys that she has. then her friend tell her to try overcome her phobia simply by just confessing to strange boy out there. so she remember a guy who she always pass by in her wayto school who once pick her key chain by chance. she mustered the courage and confessed to him but surprisingly she got accepted by the boy. so it's begin their first, cute, sweet, awkward love story... the story was focus mainly on how the two of them act to each other and get the advice from their friends... since it's their first experience going out with someone. no love triangle, no bullshit drama, no intervention, no depressing situation, only the pure first love story from two highschooler it's not only from girl perspective, it also from the guy perspective which is very much similar with the girl perspective(about the shyness and how to act as a couple). i could say its seinen with much shoujo feeling yet still have shounen type romance feeling too. the feeling really similar when i watch ore monogatari and working. really recommend for sweet romance lover
Himari Ashihara has always attended all-girls schools. Because of this, she has virtually no experience with men and thus is unable to understand or deal with them at all. Her friends, Shuuko Tokiwa and Yae Kashino, decide the best way for her to overcome her problem is to confess to someone. Gathering her courage, Himari asks Satoru Kai, a boy she crosses paths with while walking to school, out on a date by the river. To her shock, Satoru accepts. Unsure and taken aback, Himari makes a deal with her friends: if he shows up at the riverbank, she will continue dating him—and if he is not there, she is allowed to apologize and say she has mistaken him for another person. Anxiously waiting at their meeting place, she is surprised when Satoru makes an appearance, marking the beginning of Himari's first ever relationship. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
Honestly this manga is one of the best romantic-comedy manga I have ever read. It doesn't contain any "fan service ecchi effect" and love triangle or NTR. It is about two couples dating while Himari, the main heroine, sort out her feelings because she just ask Satoru, the main hero, out to fix her fear of men and as a test of courage. What I love in this manga is not only the interaction between them but also their interaction between their friends especially when their friends are giving them some advice. Also the best thing in this manga is again that there isno NTR or love triangle which is very unique for a manga where there are a group of girls and boys. Well there is something that bothers me in most of the romantic happy ending manga, the last chapter will always end in a way the problem is fixed and they live happily ever after, this made me somehow unsatisfied and I think it is more satisfying if the last chapter is where they will put all good ideas for happy ending (such as getting Married or having children). Nonetheless this is a Masterpiece it will make you laugh and feel excited romantically.
Other reviews will probably give you a good idea of how the manga is so I'll take a slightly different approach. If you want to see an example of GOOD supporting characters and good friends, read HajiOtsu. The story itself isn't anything to boast about, but it feels nice to read a manga where the MC has a great pair of friends who aren't just helping him forward but also looking out for him and for each other. That, coupled with the sweet story and great art will definitely result in a nice read anywhere, anytime. Can't say I will re-read, but can't say I don't wantmore. Story: 8 Art: 9 Character: 9 Enjoyment: 9 Overall: 9
Story: 7 I always try to read every romance manga that appears on my way, doing so I have read a ton of "clichés". This is not a bad thing at all, they are called clichés because they work just fine. This story is just as basic as it can get, girl doesnt have any idea of how to talk to boys, she then meets a boy and she starts to experience love. The story works fine, and with the artwork it really excells the embarrassment of the characters which I find quite cute.Art: 9 Dammit, everything its cute in this manga, girls blushing, boys blushing, it looks extremely good. Overall: 7 Its a good manga, give it a shot if you are like me and you want to see some japanese manga guys find love in the cutest way but without a long story that wants to f*** your brain.
Hajiotsu is about a girl named Himari that's terrified of boys, so her friends pressure her to confess to some guy, any guy, as a sort of trial to get better at interacting with them, with the expectation the guy would turn her down because she's a complete stranger. But, as her luck would have it, the guy she chose said yes. I found this manga doesn't have much to make it stand out from other shoujo manga featuring a shy couple. The major conflict is also incredibly silly, where they're trying to make it like the girl should feel like some sort of wicked girlfor having given the wrong impression that she had a crush on the guy in the beginning. The thing is, as soon as they agree to date, they're both obviously into each other and date each other for real, and so this conflict seems silly to me. So what if her reason for asking him out originally was insincere, when she was sincere about everything else? I also feel like Himari is SO shy, it's difficult to like them as a couple. While they do do normal couple things, at the same time they hardly ever speak and twenty chapters in, it still feels like they know next to nothing about each other. Another thing I REALLY wish the author had focused on her friends and developed them more. One friend wants to push Himari further into the relationship, and so tricks Himari, but in ways that kind of help her along. The other friend is weirdly possessive of Himari, decides she hates Kai merely because he is dating Himari, and tries to break them up by encouraging Himari to fight him or run away. The two friends with near opposite motivations is an amusing concept, and could have been really great if the author had gone farther with it. As for the art, most of the time the art is simple and clean. But it's become obvious to me that the manga artist isn't actually that good, such that their art will be going along fine, and then a panel will randomly have completely incorrectly drawn hands, or a face will be off, or so forth. I think the artist normally uses references, and falls apart when they don't have one. In conclusion, if you're a particular fan of shy couple type romance, you may enjoy this, but there are much better out there.
