Angel Voice - Tenshi no Uta is shoujo about a girl who falls in love with a music idol after meeting him by chance. Overall I would rate it an 8 even though in the middle of this I felt like dropping it, I kept reading it anyway and the conflicts that bothered me resolved themselves. The way the story is written is different than most shoujos in some ways but typical in others. It is the story of a girl who decides to become a singer because she has an obsession for a singing idol. She does actually go into the business and have to learn and perform also. This story also contains a lot of sadness with really sad and frustrating things happening. So - It's not like her road to being a singing star is easy. At times the main female character almost made me hate her or be sick of her, because she doesn't care about the people around her, only her goals. I couldn't really hate her because she is not a bad person just a naive girl. At times her unrequited love for the singer are really truly obsessive. So my feelings about this manga are very mixed. At times it made me angry, but at the end I was glad I read it and it is the type of manga that provokes real feelings about the characters and their actions. At times, it might make you angry too, but if you read it - it really has some interesting twists that kept me reading it to the end.
A chance meeting between a famous idol and a ordinary girl on a snowy surreal day sets the stage for this manga. Depressed and hopeless, Kurashiki Yuuya meets Mayu, whose carefree and live-for-the-moment attitude brings him new hope. In the spur of the moment, Yuuya forgets to ask Mayu's name, and watches as she disappears from his life. Much later, Yuuya comes across Natsume Tougo and their band, Dessert, along with their new performer who is none other than Mayu. Mayu and Yuuya meet again, but Touga is determined to not let her go at any cost! (Source: Vampire Knights)
