Considering all of the reviews here are of either at most 20 chapters so I felt a need to write a review. I will try my best to keep it spoiler free and as it is my first review so please go easy on me. This manga had a potential to reach the level of high school dxd as it had a strong start with some strong characters. The MC was OP with some unique illness that made this story somewhat stand out from other echii manga. Art(8): The art was very good at the start. The author really puts a lot of effort into the art buttowards the end of the manga, the art went downhill as well that made it cringy to read. Character(2): Beside MC, every major character got a headstart in term of character development and THAT'S IT!! the author didn't bother to properly give characters a development that they deserved and hence all of the other characters just became a lifeless showpiece for the sake of continuing the manga. The example is my favorite girl Kyouka, she got a good start in term of character-revealing but then it felt like the author just decided to completely ignore her existence. Story(2): The story had a strong start with so much potential to become something entirely amazing. It was hella funny and the gag references were enjoyable. But then halfway through the story, the story became literally shit and it felt like the author was trying too hard to make it funny anymore. Overall(1): Don't expect anything at all from this manga when you start reading it. It is so amazing at the start and so cringing halfway through. I expected a lot of things from it and in the end, I was utterly disappointed. So much potential wasted!
As a 6-year-old, Rintaro is diagnosed with Henisei Tashu Ijou Syndrome (also known as Hentai Syndrome), a disease that could kill him if he gets sexually aroused. To save him and provide a way for him to live as normal a life as possible, his father teaches him the ways to control his body and mind for ten years in the mountains, with the martial art of the Koei Sougetsu. When he's 16 he chooses to enroll into Nangokuren High School, which he assumed to be the biggest all-boys school in the country but is actually the biggest all-girls school that has just gone co-ed. On his first day he stumbles upon a large scale battle and learns that the first rule of the school is that it "Abides the Law of Nature" which has turned the campus into a war zone-like environment. Rintaro now sees transferring out as his mission, but will it be that easy now that he's caught the eye of the 3 "Dragons," the bodacious female leaders of the three biggest factions around? Imagine a world full of scantily clad women stronger than bears that can split the ground in half with their bare hands, and the only form of damage they take from fighting is that their clothes fall off! That is what this manga is all about. It sounds dumb right? Well, that’s because it is. It’s so dumb that it becomes funny. The protagonist dies if he becomes horny, so he learns special abilities to cover up half naked girls. He’s the master of jumping, dodging and escaping from sexy girls. You might think he’s gay, but he’s not, he just doesn’t want to die!A close up shot of breasts or a butt often cover whole pages in this manga. Sometimes this manga feels like the beginning of a hentai, so you might find yourself looking over your shoulder every now and then while praying to god that no one gets the wrong idea if they see what you’re reading!
tl;dr: Great action, comedy, and art but though there is a good cast of characters, a pretty weak story overall. This manga has pretty solid action, in that the ability sets are pretty solid, the scenes are well choreographed, and the art definitely makes it look pretty flashy, though it does seem to be pretty random. It also has a great character set, with a large number of interesting characters with a variety of personalities and pretty good character designs. It also has great humor, with a good amount of variety to it as well, but with the constant references to other works and such being whatstood out as most hilarious. And just in general it has really good art that is just a pleasure to look at in and of itself. These aspects make the manga enjoyable to read from beginning to end without it ever feeling like its dragging on. However, holistically there is one major issue, in that there doesn't feel like there's much of a story. There's a set up, and then there are individual episodes, but it doesn't feel like there's really anything that could be considered an overarching story. The individual episodes are also solid, mainly in that they're usually character focused and flesh out one or a couple characters pretty well, but the manga feels like its suffering under the weight of having too many characters, in that while each episode usually does a good job, most characters only have one episode, with even the most important characters like Ayane only feeling like they have a couple. Hence, though each character gets fleshed out enough to be interesting, we don't get to see any more than that, and ultimately very minimal character or relationship development takes place. Because of these two aspects, a lack of story and character/relationship development, the story ultimately feels like it's going nowhere, and ultimately while in the end there are some major changes, they don't feel like they have that much impact. Now, that doesn't diminish that due to the action, comedy, characters, and art that from chapter to chapter the manga is very much enjoyable, but in hindsight after reading through the entire thing, it very much feels like its lacking in certain areas.
**No spoilers will be included in this review** Skip to end for a brief summary if you dont wanna read through all my notes. _____________________________________Story____________________________________ 5/10 Mediocre So ill start by saying i Did have a lot of fun with this manga, but honestly the story is almost non-existent. This is a story that never takes itself to seriously and is mostly for fun. The Main Character Tachibana Rintaro is funny and his main story issues are just hilarious to me. He has been diagnosed with Hentai syndrome which basically translates to a disease that means if he is turned on to much he will literallydie and what ensues in the story is basically the main character avoiding so much T&A that Hugh Hefner would be jealous. So just know going in that there is tons of fan-service in this story but there is almost no romance which is honestly pretty rare for manga with a lot of fan service. This is not your average harem/ecchi manga. Ya the main Protagonist is pretty much unbeatable and does most of his fights with ease, but the catch is he is not just getting every girl, because he is actively avoiding them so he doesn't die but they sure do make it hard on him lol. In the end the story is funny and all but it is nothing special, the main story arc can pretty much be described in 10 words but if you know what your going into its still enjoyable. The battle scenes are great and its a quick read and definitely worth it, But not any better than decent at best ____________________________________Art_______________________________________ 6/10 The Art is respectable. The character design and their expressions are enjoyable , Some characters obviously received more love than others but overall the art style is done well and it matches the universe the writer has crafted. Over the top and dramatic with absurd and flashy battle moves with flashy art to go with it. Its honestly very enjoyable but it is by no means a masterpiece, Not even close to bad, but definitely not a masterpiece. __________________________________Characters__________________________________ 7/10 Honestly , these characters are hilarious and there are three of them in this story that I really think are done great and they are just so fun to watch and enjoy. The first and best character is of course Tachibana Rintaro(our main protagonist) The thing that makes this character so good and so funny is his handicap that the writer gives him. The rare disease he has is almost essential to his character as it is the reason for everything that he does. I found myself laughing out loud at my boy rintaro and honestly his pop culture jokes and how he reacts to the other characters around him just had me smiling anytime he was on the page. The second best character is named Ayane, there isnt much to her but she is very lovable and her commitment to learning Rintaro (her masters) fighting style is very cute. I like their relationship because Ayane doesn't have romantic feelings for Rintaro and instead seriously views him as her master in his fighting style and i like this because this is a very rare thing in these type of manga, a girl who isn't interested in diddling our protagonist and dont get me wrong i enjoy romance and beautifully drawn female characters like the next guy but its nice to be surprised and not have the same old same old ( shes a fun character) My third favorite character is Tachibana Kentaro (rintaros father) not much needs to be said about this guy but you can definitely see why rintaro is the way he is. The father character is well done and gives you the dad jokes vibe throughout the manga which i find refreshing because i love bad dad jokes. to sum it all up the characters are good if you are looking to smile and laugh and not take anything to seriously. __________________________________Enjoyment__________________________________ 10/10 I dont care what anyone says, I enjoyed this managa so much, i finished it so quickly and i read 2-3 volumes a night. I was laughing and smiling throughout at the absurd story, characters and battle scenes. The mix up of the setup to the story really made this a good one for me. I definitely would recommend this to people who can laugh at absurd, for no reason, fan service. Its a fun time and I dont regret a second of it, even though the story is only decent at best and the art is so-so, Im glad i found this one =) __________________________________Overall/Summary____________________________ Story: 4/10 Art :6/10 Character: 7/10 Enjoyment:10/10 overall the story is not anything special at all but has its charms, the art style is passable and works in the world and story but isn't a masterpiece by any means, although the battle scenes are very well done. The best part of the story is the main characters, they are all; Love-able, Kind, and Funny. These characters are the main thing that kept me reading. All in all i really enjoyed this more than i expected and i recommend it to anyone who can not take it to seriously and just have fun with the absurd premise and just know that there will be fan service **Shocker** lol
From the beginning the manga isn't something that's going to blow you away. Definitely feels like other martial arts shows with ecchi elements like Kenichi or Tenjo Tenge (anime adaptation). But it seemed like it would at least be enjoyable and it was for the first half. The first half felt like a 6.5, but after chapter 24 it goes down hill. They rapidly introduce new characters and try to introduce new plot threads while wrapping up old ones. I very much get the feel that the author may have been pressured to cut the manga short since the last 20 chapters are riddled withblatant references, is extremely rushed and is just bland overall. Being generous I'd give the last half a 4 and that leaves me somewhere in the middle with a 5. I remember dropping it at exactly chapter 24 a couple of years ago, but coming back to it I got a conclusion. Sadly, it wasn't at all satisfying.
