Story: 6 The story revolves around a NEET girl and a perfect school president (a genre that has DEFN not been explored before). Then afterwards we find out the prince is actually a self-absorbed asshole who is the heir to the yakuza (another plot that has DEFN not been done before). The events that follow are the president's attempts to woo the NEET, after she learns about his alternate identity. Overall, even though its a overused and frankly not original plot line, it still provides a decent amount of humor and roasting moments. But I wouldn't say the story is original. Art: 7 The art wasn't like blowingme out of the water or anything, but the chibi faces when used were drawn well. I basically can't complain or complement the art. Character: 6 I really didn't like any of the characters. Their personalities never let me get attached to anyone. Enjoyment: 7 There are some funny things and unexpected traits for the side characters, but that's where the majority of the enjoyment comes from. Overall: 6 It's a pretty average read, I wouldn't really go out of my way to recommend it. If you asked me about it, I'd respond with an its okay. This isn't gonna change your world view or make you swoon, but it's a short comedic read. Sarcasm aside for 24 chapters it's worth the small amount of time you need to put into it for the small amount of laughs.
Closet otaku girl, Hirayama, lives a peaceful and normal school life...that is until she meets the smart, handsome and popular high school president and discovers his secret. Her peaceful and quiet world is now starting to fall apart. (Source: AQUA Scans)
Honestly, I never thought I'd ever write a review but I just had such strong opinions on this one, and seeing how there was only one review here that didn't voice my opinion, I am writing this now. I know this is really badly written, but I just really needed to write all this down. So this is not a storyline we're unfamiliar with: a perfect boy, and an unpopular girl, connected due to a secret. And really, I don't dislike that. It's not a bad plot. Even though it's cliche and overused, if they write it well, it'll turn out amazing. Unfortunately, that is notwhat happened... This is supposed to be a romantic-comedy (I think). But there is no romance. There were situations that could appear to be romantic developments, but there were no 'thump thump' or blushes, or any sort of change in behaviour. I read up to chapter 19, and only then did I notice some development in their relationship, though it was still one-sided. Nevertheless, I feel all the chapters before chapter 19 were simply unnecessary. Due to threatening of the boy to reveal her secret, abuse. Bullying. Sexual harassment. These were all heavily shown in the manga, and very loudly expressed throughout the manga. Yet nobody, none of the adults ever did anything about it even though they addressed it, and apologised? (The only person I can accept was the foreigner guy who came in between, but then he said he kinda missed the president later on, so I take that back.) And the girl just accepted it as well, despite being so bothered by it - because it was a comedy. I don't know about you, but I personally think there is absolutely nothing funny about harassment, nor anything romantic about it, for that matter. And for the conclusion, I thought they'd make a time-lapse after five years (because that's also a popular clique) and the school president will come back as a changed man, since he's basically ran away from the commotion at school after the reveal of the secret. Then maybe, I'll give him a chance and they can actually have an acceptable romance. But no. That did not happen. They had to cut it short and he returned to school with a slightly better behaviour. If they carried the story from here, I think I would have enjoyed it a whole lot more. Here, he actually had feelings for her, and wasn't treating her like a slave, and there was room for developing feelings of the girl too. Overall, it was just a love developed one-sidedly, and then forced upon the girl, who even though expresses how much she hates it, cannot stand up for herself and let all the adults in her life control, whom, don't give a shi*t about the bullying, and encourages her to stay with him. I hated this. There was no satisfaction in finishing this, nothing happened. It was only the school president who ended up happier than he was from the beginning, and nothing beneficial for the other main character. It was truly a waste of my time. I'd only rated it 2/10 due to a good premise, some development for the guy, and sympathy for the girl. I personally wouldn't recommend this to anyone unless they have a thing for bullying that's encouraged even when acknowledged.
