For a while there, I was very hesitant about reading this manga. It didn't look all too interesting and I wasn't sure how well I'd like it. But I got to say, when I finally gave it a chance, it was quick to become one of my favorite mangas! It was a very cute story about a fourteen-year-old girl living with four older brothers. (This might be a spoiler, so don't say I didn't warn you!!) Though none of them are related by blood, they all act like brothers to her. However, for her and one of the guys, things are about to change...
I recently finished this manga that I started a while ago. I had been collecting the manga because of the adorable-ness of the art and story. However, I stopped because it got a little weird. It is about a sister who reunites with her brothers after her grandmother died. Originally, she lived with them with her mother and step-father before their fatal car accident, making these 4 brothers her step-brothers. I personally find it a little off-putting that **spoiler** that the main character and the eldest brother fall in love with one another (romantically). I would have preferred if they would just live all together asa family of brothers and sisters. Even though it says it's a reverse harem, only one of the brother's is romantically love the main character and the other brother's love her as a sister. An extremely adorable manga, aside from the psudo-incest and the huge age-gap. The ending was really adorable because it showed them just as siblings, with no romantic feelings for each other.
Sakura had lived with her grandma ever since her parents died in a car accident when she was three. When she turned fourteen, her grandma also passed away, leaving her alone. Just when she was about to give up hope having a family, out of nowhere, four guys claim to be her older step-brothers. (Source: Esthétique) Included one-shots: Volume 1: Parallel to the World Volume 2: Gakuchuu Volume 3: Mahou no Tsukaikata (How To Use Magic) Volume 4: Himitsu no Tobira no Kugurikata (How to go Through a Secret Door) Volume 6: Santa no Iru Machi Volume 7: Shirayukihime no Douwa (The long tale of Snow White.) Volume 9: Kimi to Boku no Uta
I think Onii-chan to Issho is a great manga. It has comedy, drama and romance combined and together that makes one great story. One thing I must point out is the fact that Masashi is always dressed like a girl and that bugs me because I can't see him as a boy. But overall its a great manga.
I collected the entire series, and enjoyed reading and rereading Oniichan to Issho for awhile. It's a very fluffy and lighthearted series and a super easy read. The artwork is very shoujo and it works for the story. My favorite part is definitely the familial relationships between all the characters. Slight spoilers: I really didn't like the end game romance. I thought the family relationship dynamics was enough to carry the series, and the added romance felt unecessary. The plot lines that focus on the familial aspect are really what carries the series. I'm not terribly bothered by step-sibling romantic relationships, but this one felt really shoe-hornedin. When the romance plot line emerged, I was really surprised.
