Miracle Girls was one of the very first manga I ever remember reading. The story was something I could really get into. The artwork was so much different then what I had seen in the other books I originally read, so this series intrigued me. The story is about Toni and Mika who are identical twins with special powers. Together, they are able to teleport and communicate telepathically. The athletically challenged Mika begs Toni to switch identities with her for her school's sports day. Sooner rather than later, Mika then begs Toni to switch places with her so she could be together with Jackson moreoften. Soon the science teacher, Mr. Kageura begins to stalk Toni, sensing that Mika (who was really Toni) has been behaving strangely. The entire series revolves around these two girls and their relationship with those around them. This being one of my first mangas actually brought me into reading more of them. People's opinions on this series may vary from like to dislike, but for me, Miracle Girls was a great beginning manga that touched my heart and made me want to read more.
Meet Toni and Mika-identical twins as different as day and night. Toni is a star athlete, out-going, and popular. Mika is shy, quiet, and academic. Although they look like ordinary junior high school students, when they unite, these twins produce Miracle Powers. Telepathy, teleportation, and magic are all used to help the girls get through the day. Nobody knew about Toni and Mika's powers until a nosey classmate discovered their secret. Can the twins keep their powers a secret or will they be exposed to the world? (Source: Tokyopop) Included one-shot: Volume 1: Sukoshi dake Mystery
I'll be honest here, I was a little girl when I read this series - but I can still remember it very clearly. Psychic twins who try to keep their classmates - or peers, in general, including faculty - from knowing their secret? I still haven't seen or read an anime/manga with a storyline like that - feel free to point one out to me. The story is a good one. When I was reading it, I couldn't get enough. You won't believe how much money I spent on the volumes when Tokyopop was still releasing manga. In fact, I believe they're still laying around somewherein my bedroom back home. The art, on the other hand, not as good as the story. It might have been better if someone else illustrated it - but that's all I can say on that. Characters are pretty good. Mika was always my favorite while I was reading it, followed by Toni. Then there's Yuuya Noda - Jackson Neil, for people reading the English version - who was the only male character I liked in the whole series. I didn't really care much for the other characters. I enjoyed this series very much, but it could have been better. (The low enjoyment rating is because I can't even finish a full volume when I re-read.) Overall, it's a good series...when you're 8, but it is geared towards ages 7 & up, so no surprise there.
