Now i don't do reviews. its not me so but i just had that feeling to write my opinion on this one especially. I'l keep it short and sweet. + What i liked: > Nice characters, the MC reminds me of that in Trinity Seven and is actually not useless at all. > Nice art, to me it felt very consistent throughout. > It was actually quite a funny read for me. - What i Disliked: >Its too short, in the end the manga was axed and thus resulting in a really rushed ending in the last two chapters. Its a shame really as it was quite a fun read butyou know, harem manga's don't seem to selling great in Japan for the most part apparently. > The story and the world the manga seemed to have been in wasn't exactly explained properly in my opinion and there is so much more you could include it is unbelievable. Verdict: Now apart from the unavoidable events that stopped the development of the manga in its tracks it is a very funny and enjoyable read. The light novels are still being written according to some of the discussions i have read so i would recommend you read those if you didn't like how the manga ended or you wanted more explanation etc etc... Overall i would give it a fair: 7/10 - Very enjoyable and has alot of potential, its a shame it was axed.
Eighteen years ago, a powerful monument was discovered on a mysterious island. The monument contained data only certain people could extract, who then became students of the island's school. By extracting the data, the students are able to summon a creature that they can fight with. Of these people, Satou Taketora is your typical lazy kid who doesn't do anything. Hence, he's ranked dead last. But one day, he's dragged into a battle with his old childhood friend, and to everyone's surprise...his summon has more than meets the eye... (Source: MU)
The positive things in this manga +The art is pretty nice +The man male character does not feel like a cardboard cutout like a lot of male man characters do in this sort of manga. +The main character is powerful, but not some all mighty bad ass +It is very enjoyable from start to finish The Negatives in this manga -The female characters are ones you have seen in other manga and anime before -The ending is very obviously rushed and not well planned. -The story itself is fairly boring and not anything newOverall the story and characters are nothing to great, however I just found myself enjoying this as I was reading it. If you are generally a fan of manga and anime like this I would check it out. If not this will not be the one to change you into a fan of this sort of story.
I'm too lazy to write a long review so I'll tell you what I liked and disliked. Like- 1]The MC Tora was a fresh breath of life to me who was fed up with reading about spineless harem MC's who are annoyingly dense about the girls who love him. 2)The art was crisp and clear even if it was a bit simple at times. 3)The girls were all cute. 4)Looking at Tora doesn't make you wonder what the girls like about him.Sure he is a pervert and a lazy bum but he can be charming when he wants to be,can be honest to a fault about unnecessary thing,is funny butconsiderate and is definitely OP even if he hides his powers. Dislike- 1)Reading the manga makes makes it painfully clear that the mangaka had the idea for a great long running series planned out but unfortunately it was axed.So most of the plot devices the mangaka planted was left ignored.Nothing gets really explained either about the manga universe expect for whats on the surface. 2)The harem candidates were all a bit clichéd-There was the mandatory childhood friend, the smart girl, the senior, the sister who turned out to have no blood relations, there was even the beginnings of a teacher candidate but as I said before the manga was axed so it never got anywhere. 3)Some scenes were a bit clichéd too-alone with a girl during power cut, mysterious girl suddenly appearing and getting mad that he doesn't remember their childhood promise,MC being introduced as weak but is actually OP,etc. In short if you want a light hearted comedy with a sprinkle of romance and action and will not get mad that such a great series got axed without the story being allowed to develop definitely read it.The manga rides on the shoulders of the MC Tora-the bad ass, lazy,OP,kick ass natural gigolo who's got a spine for a change.
Tora Kiss: A School Odyssey is basically an unfilled template of a generic harem manga. It has everything we would expect. We get to see the character types we know and love, the messy situations that you want to see ...etc; but that's basically it. It has all of those, yet it feels empty like it's just a shell of what it could have been. Initially I was excited since it had the potential for further development, but the series was cut short and the ending was abrupt. This is probably why it seems so empty. TLDR; Tora Kiss: A School Odyssey was neither good norbad. It's a good read to pass some time, but not much more in my opinion.
So I'm not a guy who reads action/super power-y mangas, but this manga actually got me hyped. The whole story about a special school and having cool Phi's was pretty sick, and the 0-to-hero kind of story was awesome. Even though the series was axed, I would absolutely read more and just roll with some major plot holes. (SPOILER AHEAD) For example, the entire passing of data to one another through kissing made no sense, because in order for you to give data from one person to another, the person giving the data would also receive the data the recipient has as well... But interms of action sequences and cool leveling-up goes, it's a pretty damn cool idea. The art is good, but it's nothing special. Some of the action sequencing was cool, and well drawn, but it's not super detailed, just overall good. Characters are good, some over-the-top cliche characters, and in the end it just turns into a harem manga and I was kind of okay with that. The growth of characters in 24 short chapters was cool, and I can see it turn into a larger series with the write author behind it. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this casually. I wasn't emotionally invested in it, but I stayed for the cool battle sequences and duels that went down. In the end, you can read this in an hour or so and be happy with it. You'll know what I mean by plot holes when you finish it, but you'll also be kind of let down when it suddenly ends.
