A corrupting influence on morals or the intellect, that’s what love is, that’s how we act when we’re in love. That also happens to be the definition of the word virus. Coincidence? I think not! Love is like a virus, at least according to Nagi’s Shinai Virus/Deep Love Virus. In this case I agree. Love is never easy, specially when the person you are in love with is your best friend. That’s the position Mako is in. Being labeled the best friend, she is there for Haruo every time his relationships go south which just happen to be a permanent direction for them. After onespontaneous kiss she thought he finally felt the same way she did. That illusion vanished the next day when she met his new girlfriend. Not everything is as bleak as her love life, she still has Kendo club practices, if she can find a way to save the club from being disbanded. Devoting her time in helping her senpai to save the club is turning out to be just what she needed and who knows she might be a sneeze away from catching his virus. In this short one volume we experience the joy heartbreak of first love. One thing can be said about both love and viruses, if you survive the bug, you’ll have a stronger immune system to back up the next one. Because let’s face it, the heart may forget but the body never does. Ok, I’ll stop with the virus analogy. In all seriousness this story was actually not bad just a bit predictable, but most romances are. The story centers around these two people. Without realizing they became each others objects, possessions. That’s what happened in Deep Love Virus. They didn’t realize how much someone meant to them until they’re no longer there or willing to be there. Their relationship was constant, never changing until an unbalanced force walked in and disrupted their rhythm and their way of thinking. Be it another person or just a feeling, both are powerful in their way. Personally, I would have liked for the story to have dedicated more pages to Kendo and the competitions. It being a romance and a one-shot made that difficult, Kendo was just a means to an end this time around. Shame that it was because even the club members could have easily extended the manga. The art was nice and clean. I like the contrast of the main characters, dark haired Haruo and light haired Shun, were as different as their personalities. Maybe it was a fluke but I thought it was ironic. The clothing style for each character suited their persona. Not perfect but better than average seeing as it shows what first love really is which is just your first.
Mako and Haru have been friends forever. One day when Haru suddenly kisses Mako she starts thinking that this is a sign of a new beginning! However, soon after, Haru tells Mako that he has found a new girlfriend! How will Mako react to the news!? (Source: Osuwari Team)
In Deep Love Virus, Mako has discovered how deep her love for her childhood friend Haru are and doesn't understand how Haru can act so normal after they kissed. After finding out that Haru got himself a girlfriend , Haru is devastated and she is found crying by her kendo sempai . kendo sempai becames a refuge for Maku. every time make is sad or upset because of Haru the kendo sempai is there for her. when haru starts to return the same feelings, Mako realizes that she loves somebody else. The art was somewhat enjoyable but the story was bit annoying for the fact thatshe was always crying. The personalities of the characters was a little unrealistic, in my opinion.
