Junketsu Drop is an adorable and sweet yaoi, even if it is classified as a shounen ai on 'MyAnimeList' when you go to read in online it states yaoi... or maybe that's the version i read 0.0 either way it doesn't matter, it's a manga about two boys OK! Hu-humm, anyway, i can say without 'much' embarrassment that i love yaoi and i read/watch quite a lot (.^_^.) and this manga was the first in a long time to make me so excited 0.0 NOT LIKE THAT (mostly....) it was just so cute and sweet and i felt the boys were so realistic and reacted(mostly) like real people would. Story was actually quite refreshing and honest, yet not like mind-boggoing unique. It is set in a school (WHODA THOUGHT >.> yet we love it .^_^.) with two seemingly opposite boys evolving there rival-ness into a unexpected and passionate fling that neither saw coming. 8/10 Art at first i was a bit "0.0 noses... noses everywhere." (you'll see what i mean.. they're a bit umm eye catching) but after a few pages i liked that for once characters look real (proportional. guys have big noses usually) and the art reminds me of some other manga i loved, though i can't think what, so this art is familiar with a new twist that makes it stand out and memorable. By the second chapter i decided this manga had the cutest blushing faces i'd seen and had to reread the beginning before continuing -_-' a bit lame but i donno what it was! Also i've never done that before so you know you found something special when it makes you do that :) 8/10 Character's were at first very generic, sport boy who is arrogant, baby faced, cute drama boy who is envious and childish all the time; but in fact the mains are very layered and you see personalities and reactions out of them you don't expect but love. It made them more relatable and level cause you usually can't see what a whole person is like until you peal back some layers (don't why i have a craving to watch the first Shrek now... onions spring to mind as well...) anyway.. 9/10 Enjoyment was much higher then i expected and the chapters were so fun i would happily read over and over again for some good old escapism. Manga's like this are like old friends you visit when your down and they lift your whole mood :) so 9/10 Which is a happy 9/10 overall :) Hope people will go and read this manga now and that i could be of help to convince you too :) Thanks for reading, from Ro-ro33 xxxx p.s. i also want to apologise for any of my weirdness :P
Blockheads Kasukabe and Misato are always quarreling over everything. But one day, Kasukabe finds himself helping Misato to escape from a bunch of fangirls. Alone in the classroom. Kasukabe starts taunting and teasing his arch enemy. But somehow, things start taking a turn towards a completely unexpected direction… (Source: Echochi)
This isn't shounen-ai, its yaoi. It's not bad by any standards, just standard yaoi fare but I felt reading this wasted my time. The story is piss-poor, it's just the normal 'oh my god don't rape me' to 'why do I like this' to 'I love you too', you know, typical stuff. It was okay hot, not too cute or fluffy, basically it was average. The art is nice I guess. The only thing I found enjoyable in the manga was the whole seme/uke situation, but it wasn't explored, and half the time they were fucking, it was boring. (3 is a low score, butit left a bad taste in my mouth. It's more like 5. Painfully average.)
I've read a lot of yaoi mangas, so it became harder to come across something that I will find really cute or really hot. This manga had these two aspects. Story: This is the dejà vu ''ennemies fall in love'' type of story. I have to admit the way they start ''going out'' (if you can call it that) is pretty unrealistic and had probably been done before, but they way they discover each other's feelings was really well paced, realistic and cute. Art: The art is beautiful. It makes you smile at how cute it is and, gotta admit it, the smexy scenes are really hot while notshowing anything too graphic. Characters: The personnality of each character is very well developed for a one volume manga. The way they act and think seems realistic and the characters are overall really nice. They might surprise you at times too! Enjoyment: I enjoyed this manga from start to finish, it was just so cute, hot and heart warming at the same time. It expresses really well the feelings of discovering lust and sex for the first time and also how love can be unpredictable sometimes. Overall: A really good real for any yaoi/shounen-ai fan. I feel like this book really stands out from what I read before - and I read a lot-, it is definitly one of my favourite yaoi mangas.
English version: With impeccable art, Naho gives us a story of two rival students, who, for some reasons, end up having a more intimate relationship than they expected. She does a great job calling on Kisaragi to collaborate on this manga, the history and art have come together so well that it has become one of my favorites. The couple in the story have very different personalities than the usual yaoi. Kasukabe is a cute and stubborn who could be mistaken for a uke, and Misato is arrogant and serious who could be mistaken for a seme, but when they're both alone they change completely as if it'stheir secret. Despite having a lot of hotter scenes, the manga as a whole is adorable and lovely, nothing too explicit, complete with jealousy and sweet words like "don't do this to anyone else but me".
