Remember reading books and watching television shows (anime and manga included) and you find yourself saying 'C'mon, do something!' because the story moves at such an excruciatingly slow pace? That is Hibi Chou Chou for you in a nutshell. Synopsis Upon entering high school, the very quiet but extremely cute Suiren becomes the immediate center of attention among the boys, nicknamed the'Takane no Hana' ... but one particular boy does not look her way. The story of a quiet girl and a quiet boy. STORY 5/10 The first few chapters I was on board the train that was Hibi Chou Chou, until it hit a reoccurring them. It'sas slow, so very very painfully slow. I did find the story quiet enjoyable. The pacing was what has let this story down though, It takes the main characters around 15 or so chapters to realize they like one another another 10 to have a date. But if you can over look this you may enjoy this story. ART 9/10 Simply put, the art was beautiful, nice clean details. The characters were all beautifully drawn. CHARACTERS 4/10 Even more then the pacing of the story, the characters are probably the low point of the story. Suiren, the protagonist is a beautiful young lady, who doesn't talk to anyone apart from her best friend really. All the boys in school are attracted to her, apart from one boy. Initially, Suiren was so very cute and I enjoyed her as a MC but it comes to a point where being practically mute becomes an annoyance with her inability to relay her feeling to people, it becomes exasperating to watch her struggle. The character development for the MC is hardly present and painfully slow to watch and it isn't long before the trope of her quiet, cute-demeanor starts to wear off. Kawasumi, the male lead is not much better. He seems to wrapped up in his sports to properly form a connection with Suiren and also comes off as a bit 'cold' or 'indifferent'. OVERALL 5/10 While being a cute story, I feel that this was dragged out for to long and did not need 75+ chapters to tell it's story. Starting off as an endearing story, the characters and pacing of the plot quickly become this stories downfall. I wanted to really enjoy this story but I feel it falling short. So I have decided to give this story a 5/10
Whenever Suiren Shibazeki walks by, heads turn due to her captivatingly cute looks. In elementary school, boys would pay too much attention to her, to the point where she avoided them altogether. In middle school, she attended an all-girls school in the hopes of escaping all the unwanted attention, but she was still smothered by her classmates' coddling. As a result, Suiren now rarely speaks and maintains an expressionless face. Advancing to high school, Suiren returns to a co-ed school and is once again the center of attention. The boys refer to her as "Takane no Hana," flower on a high peak, unreachable and idolized from afar. However, one boy outside her sea of admirers catches her eyeβKouha Kawasumi, a talented karate student who is just as quiet as her. While he may not return her immediate affection, Kouha saves her from a group of boys, jump-starting the heartwarming romance that blossoms between the two soft-spoken youths. Story: 5/10 The story is average. Even below average I could say. I started reading it because it is a 'slow build' but it is so slow that barely any progress is made. You will read 75 chapters where absolutely nothing happens. There are even some of them you could skip and you still wouldn't be missing anything. Art: 8/10 If there is something good about this manga is the art. Character: 3/10 If the story is bad the characters are even worse. I'm only gonna talk about the main character because I don't want this to be extremely long. The two main characteristics of the protagonist are that sheis pretty and shy. A beautiful protagonist is nothing new, so the most interesting aspect is her shyness. And, oh boy, it is SO BAD WRITTEN. You are probably shy or know someone who is shy, and yes, shy people may not be the most talkative persons in the world but I swear to god the main character BARELY TALKS. Even with her friends!! If she talked as much as she thinks the story would be more bearable. She is so quiet she makes the story completely boring. Enjoyment: 5/10 The story is any other shoujo out there but extremely slow paced. I don't like stories where the characters fall in love as soon as their eyes meet but this kind of story where it takes 70+ for a kiss (a pretty lame one) is not better. Overall: 4/10 Average story and boring characters. The only salvable thing is the art.
If you are a quiet person who has a hard time talking to people (especially to someone you admire) but enjoys cute little moments with your crush, this manga is for you. For US. This manga was very enjoyable from beginning to end. The art, the transitioning from one event to another was perfection! This manga is my all time; overall favorite! It has many cute moments, funny and a few heartbreaking moments but very worth reading. I 10/10 would highly recommend to anyone who loves a cutesy feel good high school love story with relationships (romantic and friendship wise) that beautifully develops! (////v ///) **** Thestory seemed a bit slow and there were a few unnecessary love triangles (typical shoujo manga) and tedious moments where you just want to push the two main characters together, but In my opinion the ending was worth it. What's a story without problems, I guess?
The story seems pretty simple; two shy people meet and their love grows from there... but it's more than that. I don't know about other people, but this is the type of manga I want to read. The type where it's just a simple romance with its own little touch to it that makes it its own. I hate to see the love interests being demons, animal girls, etc. , I hate when the art makes the characters look like they're five, and I hate when there's a really annoying character that you just want to leave the manga... but there was really nobody/nothing likethat in this story. In other words, this was the perfect manga for me. Pros: The art was amazing, the story was simple (but cute af), the characters were hilarious... and while others seem to think otherwise, I thought this story never got boring, and I enjoyed it both times I read it. Cons: Not a single part of the story did I hate or feel needed to be changed... but I wish it never ended. cri... Pretty much my favorite manga. I could re-read it 10+ more times and It'd never get old. First time writing one of these. :D
So this is my first ever review, so be ready ;) Story: 4 This manga is about a girl who is VERY pretty and usually gets a lot of unwanted attention from boys because of her looks. Because of that, she grew to be a shy and quiet person. In high school, she meets this quiet boy who doesn't make a big deal out of her looks, and she develops an interest in him. To be honest, this story is a meh. It is so god dang slow and there isn't much juicy parts except a few blushes and that's that. You have to read A LOTchapters until the romance actually starts. By then, I would have already dropped it. If you don't like slow paced shoujo mangas, then this one is not for you. Art: 8 The art is really good. And that's the only good thing about it. (Sorry to break it to you) Character: 3 Usually, when I read manga or watch anime, the characters are the 2nd most important part. The characters here were pretty boring. The female MC's only major thing about her is that she's shy. I would've like it WAY better if she'd actually grow out of her shyness and have some character development. But I know that these kind of things are very hard to overcome, especially for some people, so I get that. But she was just plain boring. You can't have a good story without dialogue. She just sits there and acts pretty. The male MC, he was boring as well. I don't understand why he is considered "shy", cause for one thing for sure, he talks way more than your average shy person. Enjoyment 4: I didn't really enjoy it that much, since it was slow, and it wasn't interesting at all. Overall: 4 This was just bad. It's just a manga that I would ditch anytime.
