I loved the manga of Wolf`s Rain :D Just L.O.V.E.D it:D Toboe is so cute, Tsume is musterious, Hige is lovely:) and Kiba is cool:D Liked the story very much, most because Wolf is my favorite animal:D But the story is very good, with the characters and the fighting with Darcia;) Really loved this story:D I almost cried, and it is a strong story.
So, I watched Wolf's Rain before I read it, and honestly, for the first time in like, EVER, I preferred the anime to the manga- the manga is usually easier to follow and it, like a novel, usually has more details than the movie version (or anime version in this case), but here... no. Honestly, I found the anime had a lot more detail and a better ending, not to mention, in the manga I found myself wondering how Hubb and Quent met and how they found Cher, and it was just a little tricky for me to understand. In the anime you see alot more and I preferred that. Both have a great story, great art, and amazing characters that you HAVE to fall in love with, but honestly, overall, I'd recommend the anime over the manga.
Humans thought the wolves died off two centuries ago in this bleak post-apocalyptic wasteland. But some survivors lurk among the humans by mentally cloaking their animal bodies. One white wolf, Kiba, scours the land for the scent of the Lunar Flower that will lead them all to Paradise...but will it lead them to a deadly false legend? (Source: VIZ Media)
I adore Wolf's Rain. It's one of the best anime ever written. The manga, however, is another story. ...Literally. You literally cannot adapt a 30-episode anime into a two-volume manga. It’s not possible and they never should have tried. The art is shoddy. It’s ugly and the wolves look like furry logs with furry stick legs. It’s a disrespect to the BONES team’s beautiful animation. They took maybe a couple of the main scenes in the anime (but not even the important ones) and redrew them. It’s basically a storyboard of a couple of scenes thrown together into a book and called a manga adaptation. The ending is nothing like the anime--in fact, there's not really an ending. Who are the people/wolves at the end? We've never seen them before and they're not even given names. Meanwhile the other characters have disappeared without a trace and with no ending to their own arcs. Wolf’s Rain was a masterpiece. This? It’s a travesty.
I had watched episodes of Wolf's Rain when I was kid staying up way too late to catch it on adult swim. This time around, I wanted to read the Manga before I re-watched the show, even though it is made based off the show. Confusing, I know. There were some flaws with the manga that I could by past, one of them being everything seemed to have so fast. Coming from only two volumes, I liked that it was short read, but they could have added more depth and backstory in the Manga, with more chapters. It's a goodquick read of a series, and if you enjoyed the Show, you may or may not like how the different path this takes. Wolf's Rain is one of those special series that have a way to dive into a different universe and still leave you wanting more.
I read Wolf's Rain in Finnish so it may be different from other reviews. The story of Wolf's Rain was interesting and not quite what I was expecting from it. I didn't know that the story was about wolves that can turn into humans, I thought this would have been werewolf story but it isn't. The story was interesting, different and surprising. There was lot of happening and sometimes I didn't understand why things were happening. But it is only two books of manga so there wouldn't been much pages to use explain every single thing. So, I think story was alright, nothing that specialto me. The art of Wolf´s Rain was my favorite part. It is an older manga so the art style is something that remind me of my childhood. I really liked how dramatic some parts were and how they made the wolves look like they were moving. The characters had very nice designs. The character design matched to their personalities perfectly and it was easy to remember who was who. And from reading the second manga I realized how I started to more and more like these characters even though we didn't know much about them. I enjoyed reading this manga. I liked the ending and most parts of it. I think the translation just made me dislike it little bit (Most translated mangas are so horrible ;_;)
